Wooo! Too bad the Yanks are slaughtering the Twinkies.

Hegemon1414 2003-10-05 05:14:06 PM
Sox/Cubs Series!! Here it comes. One team wins, one team becomes the most pathetic looser ever.

melissaX 2003-10-05 05:14:15 PM
Good day to be a Boston fan.

RickTheVote 2003-10-05 05:15:04 PM
I'm hoping it's a good day to be a Cubs fan.

Congrats, Boston!!!

Telemachus 2003-10-05 05:16:37 PM
The Curse will catch up with them. They will lose the series.

DrRocks1982 2003-10-05 05:16:37 PM
What an amazing game! Who'd have suspected Boston's bullpen would pull through like it has?

ZAZ [TotalFark] 2003-10-05 05:16:38 PM
You can't let them down if you don't tease them first.

Bob55 2003-10-05 05:16:38 PM
Go BoTox!

dmd8605 2003-10-05 05:16:45 PM
You do realize that someone will pull a Buckner in Oakland, right?

Terraceten [TotalFark] 2003-10-05 05:17:19 PM
Come on, Cubs/Chicago Fans: We'd love to see you there....

/GO PEDRO

God is against the city of Oakland right now...

usmoo879 2003-10-05 05:22:44 PM
Not before stealing game 3 with the Sox getting Tuck Rule II (obstruction on Tejada). BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Hate the Sox.

Cuchulane [TotalFark] 2003-10-05 05:23:03 PM
In other news, an unusually large order for space heaters was placed by a Mr. Lucifer B. Eezelbub, and reported instances of newborn piglets having wings are increasing...

I've been a Red Sox fan over 40 years now (sigh), but if the A's manage to blow this one, my heart goes out to their fans. How many 2-0 series leads can one organization let slip by?

spiralscratch 2003-10-05 05:23:54 PM
Ya still got one more game to go, ya twerps. Don't celebrate yet.

'Course, the A's could go out in the first round for the fourth year...

spiralscratch 2003-10-05 05:25:29 PM
nolimitz13: God is against the city of Oakland right now...

Ever been to Oakland? I wouldn't blame him if he did.

meteora 2003-10-05 05:26:52 PM
Don't worry, Oakland will win.
Babe Ruth is an Athletics fan.

TheCrawlingChaos 2003-10-05 05:26:58 PM
Walking down Yawkey Way today right after the Sox won was an amazing experience. You know it's something special when you can hear the cheers of Fenway from your own dorm room.

GO SOX!

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO on you for trying to use the tired "umps stole the game away" whine routine. The A's looked terrible last night, obstruction or not.

Unsteady21 2003-10-05 05:28:07 PM
the giants are my favorite team (followed by the BoSox), but since the giants pathetically lost, im now relying on the BoSox. GO BOSOX!!!

/The curse will be broken, no doubt

darkhorse23 [TotalFark] 2003-10-05 05:29:05 PM
If there is a God in heaven, this Series will be between the Cubs and the Sox!!! Watching the Yankees win every year is as boring as watching Tiger Woods win every time he plays.

Godzirrrra 2003-10-05 05:30:05 PM
They would have one game one if Little did not take out Timlin for the ninth !!

woodstock [TotalFark] 2003-10-05 05:31:48 PM
YEA! :D
I was flipping between the sox game and the pats game. Both played very well! Good day to be a Boston sports fan!! GO SOX!!!!

BTW: Does anyone know if Pedro is going to be pitching in Oakland?

Delay 2003-10-05 05:32:21 PM
It's Arnold's fault.

leahrostova 2003-10-05 05:32:47 PM
I am in a Sox-fans hating mood because those jackasses next door happen to be Sox fans and right when I was in the middle of a paper they start SCREAMING in the 9th (the game wasn't even over yet!). Grrrrrr......

Cuchulane [TotalFark] 2003-10-05 05:33:02 PM
Pedro is pitching tomorrow night in Oakland on full rest :-)

lobstah 2003-10-05 05:33:41 PM
Yes Pedro is pitching tomorrow either at 4pm or 8PM depending if Yaks win

theurge14 2003-10-05 05:34:51 PM
BoTox.

ChickenMcBastard 2003-10-05 05:37:00 PM
Heck, I'm a Yankees fan and even I'd like to see a Sox/Cubs series. Come on guys, we're spoiled anyway, let the non-belivers have thier fun this year.

freerider484 2003-10-05 05:38:35 PM
yankees suck! x 10^20th

Fark It [TotalFark] 2003-10-05 05:40:42 PM
Yankees? I believe they are more commonly referred to outside of NY as the evil empire.

Zulu_as_Kono [TotalFark] 2003-10-05 05:40:43 PM
And Telemachus is the first offender of what I propose as "Zulu's First Law of Baseball Discussions":

Anyone who mentions the so-called "Curse of the Bambino" is to be considered a complete idiot, who knows nothing about baseball."

Zulu_as_Kono [TotalFark] 2003-10-05 05:42:02 PM
And usmoo879 has proven him/herself to know nothing about baseball.

Shroomerguy 2003-10-05 05:42:11 PM
Okay...for the last time...IT IS THE FIRST ROUND OF THE PLAYOFFS. Good god almighty. Stop hyperventilating, everybody.

/Baseball sucks, anyway

spiralscratch 2003-10-05 05:43:03 PM
You all realize that if there is a Red Sox vs. Cubs series the world is going to end. Neither team can win, so something really bad will prevent the series from completing. I say it'll be Armageddon.

Hey, I live here. I can be excited.

Need more Budweiser.

And you're commenting in a baseball thread because...?!?

/Comments of "(insert topic)sucks" in threads specifically about said topic suck.

deevo 2003-10-05 05:49:36 PM
Did you hear Trot Nixon last night? He said it was Jesus Christ swingin' the bat. I don't see a Christ on the BoSox postseason roster. Cheaters.

/go anybody but the yanks or cubs
/mets all the way in '04

jimtess 2003-10-05 05:49:51 PM
Game good.

Announcers bad.

Jon Miller actually called Grady Little Jimy Williams at one point.

Joe Morgan still hates the Sox from his playing days and always repeats the most cliche, obvious things again and again.

I wish Sean McDonough and Jerry Remy were doing this series...

sierra4 2003-10-05 05:50:09 PM
Zulu: thx for being the voice of reason

There is no curse, folks. And those of you getting all bent out of shape over us getting excited don't know what it's like to be a true sports fan.

Great game. Good to see the boys have a bullpen finally.

Pedro vs Zito tomorrow... It's on.

GO SOX!

Probably a Yankees fan....and conveniently forgetting the umps giving the Yanks the series against the Sox in '99....remember the play where Jose Offerman was in Maine, and Chuck Knoblauch was in Delaware, and Tim Tshida called Offerman out? That guy was so on Steinbrenner's payroll.

Here, here. Sean McDonough mey be the most lucid, insightful sportscaster to ever cover baseball.

Yeah....even Yankees fans have to be sick of saying "1918"...gotta be looking forward to breaking out the new hotness of "You only need 20 more"

HipShot 2003-10-05 05:55:12 PM
The big question remains unanswered:

Has the piano been recovered from the pond? Can there be any hope if it hasn't?

A Chicago/Boston series would be awesome.

macdaddy357 2003-10-05 05:57:09 PM
The possibility of a Cubs vs. Red Sox World Series is still alive. If it happens, is that oe of the seven signs?

wldncrzy14 2003-10-05 05:57:42 PM
I've been rooting for a Cubs/Sox series as well. Was hoping Sosa would pull through in the clutch last night.
