blue thunder?

I laughed until I cried. no. wait. that's wrong. I read that with little to no emotional fluctuation.

Glad to see Posh Spice can handle airplanes.

The only amusing thing in the story is that the title said "Chopper crashes in {br} posh suburb" only, you know, with angle brackets

Think about all the wasted money at Helicopter School(TM)! Not everyone makes it through both days of intense training.

marky 2003-08-17 09:23:14 PM
Ahahaha... That was amusing.

...

?

good lord civilian pilots suck.

losing an engine in a helicopter is no big deal so long as you 1) have sufficient altitude and 2) have sufficient airspeed. As long as you fall within a certain flight envelope (different for each helo) - something you should be mindful of when flying and shouldn't really fall out of except during takeoff and landing - an autorotation is about the most controlled form of helicopter flight there is.

/hates General Aviation pilots for the unbridled sucking in the skies.

...Haha?

..."the pilots said to be of middle eastern descent.airport security told them to have a nice day,and allowed them past before tackling an 80 year old jewish lady with a suspicious package of which was identified later as a bottle of geritol."

They should make it law that this happens only in poor neighborhoods.

MonkeyDragster 2003-08-17 10:35:33 PM
Look at me! I'm a tanked up loser in a helicopter!
/obligatory Simpsons quote

If you thought that's bad, you should hear what the homeowners association said about those guys crashing the gate of the community!

The Robinson 22

Glideslope 2003-08-17 11:11:56 PM
Actually, thats an RC helicopter, Darth_Smurf. :)

But Im sure you knew that. Im just layin' it out there.

reggaejunkiejew 2003-08-17 11:33:08 PM
Hmm, that thing looks like it probably only has one engine. Yeah you can still autorotate, but i think these guys were already at tree top level when the engine cut out. Kudos to the pilot that there weren't any casualties. Lighten up Kabar, civilian flying is a total pain in the buttocks its so over regulated im suprised anyone has the will power to do it anymore.

As both an FAA-licensed civilian pilot and a military pilot, I think I shall laugh in your general direction. Pardon me.

BWAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHHHAHAHAHHAHAH

"over-regulated"
If you only knew grasshoppa.

That's good. Thanks for the laugh.

reggaejunkiejew 2003-08-18 12:05:24 AM
I do, being that i was a student pilot for awhile. Whats so funny? BTW tell AOPA to stop calling me. I don't have any god damn money.

Would you find it "amusing" if said chopper plowed into YOUR posh home?

Ah, Choplifter. I spent many an hour playing that on my ol' C-64. Good times, good times.

Howzit

Just to say i submitted this and i admit it was kinda lame. never really expected it to be submitted. didnt notice till i was looking at my profile just now. just keen to get my first link approved, sorry.

but what tag except 'amusing' would have worked? take note i live in South Africa, unfortunately prone to the odd bit of violence, so this stuff is amusing to us. nobody died right?

anyway...still enjoyed your comments as always.

Yeah, they probably threatened them legally for having an inoperable helicopter parked on condo property too.
