I'm surprised that even had to be argued. IMO it's an axiom.

How does someone who has 50 discrepancies in their story to the police still stay credible enough with the district attorney to get the person they accused charged and tried?

Gwendolyn: How does someone who has 50 discrepancies in their story to the police still stay credible enough with the district attorney to get the person they accused charged and tried?

When that same DA wants to be "tough on crime!" and "protecting our children!".

That's why I never got laid in high school. I assumed all the stories my friends were telling me were made up.

how can there even be 50 factual elements to the story he told? how much detail was this asshole going into?

Not to mention someone with a history of making shiat up.

Kid: I met her on a Monday

Detective: Wait a minute...she's got yoga and book club on Mondays. Go on...

Kid: And my heart stood still.

Detective: Did you report this myocardial infarction? You'd be in a hospital, boy!

Kid: Da doo ron ron ron. Da doo ron ron.

Detective: Now you're just talking gibberish. This story makes no sense at all!

This is how I imagine that it went down:

Defense Laywer: You have stated on record that your penis is ten inches long.

Judge: Case dismissed.

The same way my exwife has had me arrested/ivestigated repeatedly. Cleared in court every time, but damn it got expensive.

For the record i am:
A Satan worshiping, wife beating, mother in law beating, thief, stalker, child abuser, child molesting , pedophile, drunk, drug addict dead-beat dad.

When charged, always take it to trial, always go for a 12 person jury trial, and always take the stand. Make the DA look like a fool. That is my favorite part.

Jamieboy 2010-07-31 03:34:47 AM
I often wonder how many lives and careers have been ruined by boys, who haven't yet learned how to spank the monkey correctly, by telling untrue stories of their sexual prowess. I bet there are more than a few former teachers working the overnight shift at 7-11 as a result of adolescent fantasies.

Lets not forget the little teen age girls. They can be liars too.

thomps: how can there even be 50 factual elements to the story he told? how much detail was this asshole going into?

If that kid came up with 50 "factual" elements of his tryst with his teacher, it should have been a clue to the DA/police that they were dealing with a fantasist. I'm a hell of a lot older than 18, much more experienced, and I can't come up with 50 factual elements of my last sexual encounter, and that was a hour ago.

Andulamb 2010-07-31 03:54:32 AM
So was there no evidence beyond this kid's story? No text messages? No photos? He just told the authorities that he had sex with his teacher, and that was enough? Or is the media leaving something out here? (That's certainly never happened before.)

I'm not a person that is in favor of suing. In fact, I hate it with a passion and think there is way too much of it. However, this lady should never have to worry about working again (because I'm sure nobody will hire her) and I hope she cleans everyone out that has had a part in this. 18? What a stupid law, teacher or no teacher.

And yeah, she's a cutie from her picture.

BadAnalogyGuy [TotalFark] 2010-07-31 05:30:11 AM
It's a given that at least 10% of high school boys are gay. At least 1 in 10 molested boys may have found the male teacher distasteful but not wholly disgusting like a heterosexual boy would.

That's actually a problem for gay boys, since they are assumed to be like hetero boys who like getting screwed by female teachers. Gay students do not like getting anally penetrated unless the male teacher is attractive. And let's be honest, most male teachers are kind of creepy and unattractive.

TheFarkinEmpress [TotalFark] 2010-07-31 06:45:24 AM
The unfortunate truth is that approximately 10% of abuse cases are false claims, made either by the children, or by a parent, usually in a custody case.

DAs know this, so they should investigate better before trying to ruin someone's life.

ModernLuddite 2010-07-31 06:46:43 AM
All cases in which the only evidence is someone's word should be decided by ignoring them until they go away.

basilbrush: He was 18, is American really that uptight about sex?

It boils down to people who have positions of authority and the means to abuse that authority. It's the same idea as "Inmate+Guard", "Patient+Therapist", "Boss+Secretary" (though the last is usually a civil matter).

The boss+secretary relationship is usually pretty normal and congenial, but when the secretary realizes that the boss is never going to leave his wife, she brings up harassment charges.

I'm totally in favor of proper investigation in this case. If the woman was willing but is suddenly crying foul because the man's wife is a problem, I'd expect that the woman would be charged and sent to jail.

"Ok, son...you say you got down and did the nasty with your teacher, so I'm sure you won't mind answering a few questions about what you saw down there. My assistant over there with the large set of cards will be showing the court photos of the actual medical examination. You better hope like hell your answers line up.

1. Bush, or bald?
2. Does she have a tattoo in an area that only someone who has seen her nude could see?
3. If said tattoo did exist, what would it be?
4. Where would it be?
5. How large are her nipples?
6. What color are her nipples?
7. Does she have an appendectomy scar?"

etc. etc. etc. And that doesn't even cover the questions about the bedroom/car/wherever it was they were supposed to have done it, etc.

I'm sure it was embarrassing for him, traumatizing for her, but pretty hilarious for any other witnesses. Also, the DA should have done this BEFORE going to trial (and it should be a standard practice in all such cases, IMHO), and saved everyone a lot of time, money and heartache.

More details. Her alibi on a day she was allegedly having sex with the kid was that she was at a basketball tournament all day with her husband and a friend, and the friend is the school board president.

Gwendolyn: How does someone who has 50 discrepancies in their story to the police still stay credible enough with the district attorney to get the person they accused charged and tried?

Yeah--that's probably why she's planning her own lawsuits. It sounds like she became a victim of the witch hunt against sex offenders.

Schlock: He was 18 years old. When I google "sexual exploitation" most of the hits are related to children. How'd they even get this into court?

1) It might have happened earlier.

2) In many places teacher/student sex is subject to rules that otherwise would not apply. Here, for example, the age of consent is 16--but 18 for teacher/student situations.

GranPuro 2010-07-31 09:27:45 AM
I hope she sues (and wins) everyone involved in this case. Make it so expensive that no school district or DA will ever again persecute these wonderful teachers who put so much personal care and attention into their students (and let their students put care and attention into them).

/ Also, would hit like the hammer of Thor!

When I was in HS, one of my male classmates alleged either sexual harassment or sexual contact (don't know which) by the chubby middle aged Polish gym teacher (female).

I heard about it when he was laughing about having to admit it was totally invented to the principal, but not before he got to watch the gym teacher cry.

/nothing happened to either of them
/bet it's different, now

1) Nope, the kid told everybody that it was after he was 18
2) I believe the age of consent in Iowa when one of the subjects is in a position of authority is 21, could be wrong, though.

/grew up 10 miles from Belmond, didn't go to school there, though.
