I would strongly suggest doing all drugs in reverse; start off directly shooting heroin at 13 or 14, continue down-scaling (crack, meth, cocaine, MDMA, temazepam etc) until you only smoke weed within 10 - 15 years or so, then alcohol, tobacco and coffee by your mid-to-late thirties and by the time you hit 40 you are back on just cereal, candy and fruit.

Or perhaps start with Jesus first. OK, that's more like it Jesus > Heroin > etc etc > weed > coffee > fruit.

More people in this country go to rehab for pot than any other drug (IIRC). This statistic is often used to support pot being illegal, but in fact illustrates how farked out our marijuana laws are.

It's not just teens. Any time you force someone into some kind of rehab that doesn't want to go, it will have the opposite effect.

I had a fiend who went to rehab for weed in high school. When they were done brainwashing he had replaced his addiction for weed with the Bible. A few weeks later he came back to his senses and starting smoking again thank GOD.

Yea, sending teens to 12-step programs full of junkies will only make them worse. It's like sending juvenile offenders to big-boy prison; you're only guaranteeing they'll be sneakier afterward, and with more connections.

Twelve-step programs in general are really not good for teenagers. I don't think very many teenagers have yet had the opportunity to completely ruin their lives and all of their relationships because of their drug or alcohol problems. That's the sort of rock-bottom person the 12-step program is most designed to help.

The whole "powerless" thing comes in by looking back at my life and all the farked-up mess that I've made of it, before I can realize that alcohol is at the root of all those problems. I know there are many ways to interpret all of the twelve steps, but for me, admitting I was powerless over alcohol did not mean admitting I was powerless in any other way, it just meant that the booze had officially kicked my ass! It meant that I needed to reclaim my power over alcohol by not drinking it.
