Security personnel disable most guns, looping zip ties through gun chambers.

How can gun owners possibly defeat a zip tie?

This is why I only attend NerfTM conventions.

"Security personnel Police officers disable most all guns, looping zip ties through gun chambers."

That's how it works in Texas.

Why wasn't there a gun law in place to prevent this accident? Can we use this situation as an impetus to write more gun laws?

Guns are very self-conscious. If you look at them in a threatening manner, they will shoot you.

I support gun rights and still got a chuckle out of the headline.

No cure for stupid and all that. Some dumbass broke multiple safety rules for this to happen and should be held accountable.

I've never been to a gun show, the days of finding good deals seem to be long gone from what I'm told. Plus they seem to attract too many of the crazy types...

gah, I hate gun shows. All these people who are *supposed* to know about guns, swinging them here and there and everywhere. I'd rather live my life without inadvertently looking down the barrel of a gun held by an idiot.

If anything, I'm surprised more people don't get hurt at those things, safety tags or no.

The rules:
1. All guns are always loaded.
2. Keep your finger off the trigger until ready to fire.
3. Never point a gun at anything you don't intend to destroy.
4. Always be sure sure of your target and what lies beyond it.

Yep, he broke them all.

Shooting victim must have used the intercom to tell all black guns to leave the show.

Too bad this happened at a show, this will probably lead to more restrictions on shows. I like the shows, the human freak parade flies their flags high at gun shows.

We had an accidental discharge happen here in Fort Worth -- thankfully no one was hit. A friend of a vendor brought in a pistol to sell and did not declare it or get it inspected at the door. Put it down on the table, someone picked it up, and *BANG*.

The vendor, his friend and the guy who fired the shot are *all* morons. Especially the guy who fired the shot -- for not checking to see if it was loaded before pulling the trigger. At least he had it aimed at the floor at the time.

Remember, it's not a real gun show unless at least two booths are selling The Turner Diaries.

And I haven't been to one in a year or so. Do they have a "Ron Paul in '12" table yet?

Eh. Every time I've gone to the Tanner Gun Show I've never seen one loaded. My worries have always come from the discussions surrounding the actual purpose of the event.

A vendor DID screw up and this should be dealt with, but at the end of the day I'm less frightened by the merchandise at the show than I am about some of the nutters that attend the damn thing.
