The question is, did these people just not have any cash, or did they just tell the robber they didn't? Robbery fail either way, at least take somebody's shoes or something...

Eight dollars?! I wasted my whole morning on you for eight dollars?

The story would have been better if she'd immediately used the $6 to buy scratchers, then fled, then was arrested by police taking statements when she returned to collect the $3 she'd won.

Pumpkin: ...See, I got the idea, last liquor store we held up, all the customers kept coming in?

Yolanda: Yeah.

Pumpkin: And you got the idea of taking their wallets. Now that was a good idea.

Yolanda: Thank you.

Pumpkin: Made more from the wallets than we did from the register.

Yolanda: Yes, we did.

Pumpkin: A lot of customers come into a restaurant.

Yolanda: A lot of wallets.

Pumpkin: Pretty smart, eh?

Yolanda: Pretty smart.

How do you rob $6.00? What kind of cash does $6.00 carry? I'm pretty sure it's not wearing a watch.

Local thug here got 99 years for an armed robbery. Five bucks was the take. I don't quite know what to think of that.

99 years for $5? Unless he stole that from a room of kindergartners he was also threatening to blow up with a bomb, I'd say that's a tad excessive.

Even if you fail to take anything, you've threatened people's lives. I feel OK with it.

I think a failure should get an even stronger punishment. Anyone so stupid that they couldn't figure out who to rob, when to rob them, or how to rob them in a way that would pay well is a double menace to society.

studebaker hoch [recently expired TotalFark] 2010-03-10 11:27:12 PM
Armed robbery should only really be about a five to ten year crime so long as nothing else happened during the robber such as actual injury to a person, shootings, etc. Then, you get what you get.

But just a stickup? Not really that big of a crime in my book. I've had my life threatened just as badly by people who can't drive, and there isn't even a law against that.

Ya- happened in front of my place and i held the guy. I justify it by telling myself he would have been back in a couple of weeks to rob my family or customers. Almost crapped my pants when the responding officers told me they recovered a gun. Basically a life sentence. I wonder what he was stealing for--ie drugs or kid's food.

Good point. I just plow into them. Never deliberately trying to injure. I just like to tag thier cars.

This might be an urban legend, but:
A guy walked up to the counter of a convenience and asked for a pack of cigarettes, throwing a $20 bill on the counter. When the clerk went to ring it up, he grabbed the cash in the register and ran off. After counting the register, the store manager found $15 missing, not counting the $20 left behind. The thief gave the store $5.

Gotta go. The last meeting of the philatelists club starts in 26 minutes.

"They were last seen in a blue Dodge Stratus."

From personal experience I can tell you that if the person is driving a Dodge Stratus, it's best to walk away from them. I don't know what it is about those cars, but they seem to be the car of choice for low level thugs, street hustlers, scummy people in general.

If you own a Dodge Stratus and are not a scumball, then you are the exception, or, you just don't know yourself very well.

Labeled or not, there's always a chance for damage to your package. Wrap it accordingly.
