Hell our recycling service stopped taking plastic bags and 12+24pk containers! Having them take old motor oil every once in a while would have been awesome.

/Me and wife drive 160 miles/day round trips combined
//lots of old motor oil

I'm surprised that article hasn't made the front page of CNN yet.

It's right in TFA, subby.

City officials said the economic downturn, the opening of a new facility on Stratton Road and the success of the Community Collection Day Program have made the weekday mobile unit collection service costly and inefficient.

Also, "hazardous waste" includes things like old car batteries, weed killer, spraypaint, used brake fluid, and fluorescent light bulbs. It doesn't have to be "WMD" level to be considered hazardous.

I'm sure in 1985 you can buy plutonium at any corner drug store.

Subby here:

Yeah I know. It just isn't something that you usually associate with the term 'hazardous waste', especially since the term can encompass something as simple as a paint can and as dangerous as U-236 runoff.

They may not take too kindly to that idea.

I live in St. Johns county, so I'm getting a kick out of these replies all of my hazardous waste down to the disposal center today!

I say we start air lifting all of our garbage to Haiti. They say one man's garbage is another man's treasure. And a little radiation poisoning is nothing compared to the mass starvation.

My plan to dump on Haiti will save America billions and create jobs for the Haitian economy. Its win win! *Palin wink*

Yeah, but in 1955 it's a little hard to come by.

Export it to one of the corrupt loser countries, like they've been doing for years.

Dump it down the ole dumpin' hole in the back yard, like in days of yore.

Seriously, hazmat pick-up? They must have had some bucks to offer that. One perk of this county, though: when people turn in hazmat that still is usable (plant fertilizers, pool chems, etc.) you can go down and grab 35 pounds a month free!
