This is so stupid. We are making fun of a society that is what we used to be a few hundered years ago. They need to evolve theirselves, not have everything thrust on them. India is not an islamic country, but we still hear hue and cry from the politicians over lip-to-lip kiss scenes in movies, valentines day, police hostility towards love-birds on the beachs/parks, social stigma against mini skirts etc. But a lot has changed in the past 4-5 years, I hear.

I guess the Kuwaitis will get there (if they will), in the next 40-50 years, atleast.

A commentator on NPR pointed out that it's often very difficult for countries who depend upon abundant natural resources for wealth to progress as much as those nations without such assets. For example, Japan has virtually no natural resources, so it has to look elsewhere to generate wealth, i.e. research, technology, manufacturing, etc. America, while resource-wealthy, didn't have enough to make that the whole of our economy.

It was an interesting idea.
