I live down in phoenix, and I see the bad side of undocumented immigration ALL the time.
We have groups of 50 people living in shacks (guadalupe, az), we have the highest incidence of kidnapping in the world (last I heard), the gang problem is horrendous, the drug use is out of control, and the school and hospital systems down here are going broke (as they pay no taxes, save for sales).

Imagine this, you live in a town with a certain capacity of roads (for figures sake lets say 10,000 people), stores, hospitals, schools etc. Those locations can only serve a population up to a certain point (say.. 12000). Now, lets take your town of 10,000 and add 5,000 people. But they all need the same services as you. Suddenly, all of your hospitals are filled, your schools are over capacity and they can't afford to hire enough people to teach that many students. Your police force doesnt have enough tax income to pay for more officers, your jails are filled.
How has your quality of life in that town changed? Has it improved?

I'm not in favor of amnesty, I think everyone should do the paperwork. But we REALLY need to crack down on the employers (I'm looking at you constrution companies) that hire undocumented immigrants. If there's no work here, there's no reason for them to cross over illegally.
My friend michelle, her family came over about 30 years ago. They did the paperwork, and they're very successful. They were able to get educations and job skills that could support them. Michelle is now a (semi) famous cello player. If they had come over illegally, they definately wouldn't have had the life they live now.

How about a compromise? If the Mexicans conquer us through bad deals, disease, and broken treaties, then I will see the need to learn spanish.

Only thing I can say is that "indians" were mostly tribes (some nomadic some not) often having wars with each other. It's a stretch but I dont know if you could, in a world wide scenario, call the "indians" their own country. Seeing as how that was 300-400 years ago let's just call that the past.

Yep, they've got free hospitals in Mexico. It won't be particularly "nice", but they got the socialized medicaine thing.

I'll have to ask my brother about his Mexico City "kidney stone adventure", and find out the billing specifics, but I don't recall him saying he paid much/anything. My sister-in-law says you can pay into a nicer level of care if you've got the cash, but most folks are stuck with the shiatty basic care.

Ok, pressing 1 now, and therein switching to English (obviously my first language). CygnusDarius, let me tell you that I genuinely love living here in BC and taking care of some adorable casa hogar kids, and God willing would like to remain here my whole life.

It is out of this love that I want the best for your country, and wish I could take a more active role in that. I get sad (and a little angry) that there seems to be no (peaceful) way out of the corruption going on here with politicians and police. I heard recently that some politicians will gain votes by promising dispensas or TVs to people who will vote for them, and I have no idea if it's true, but if it is it's sickening. It sounds like the "Chicken in every pot" the USA president Hoover promised, and well, that did not turn out well at all.

In resarching politics of EEUUMM politics I found that all that which you wrote is true, that there really isn't a party too concerned with "Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" for all of Mexico. Although you are very proud to be Mexican, I can see why you might want to change that. But I'd say work on changing Mexico in the ways that you can, just as I am with those kids I mentioned earlier. After all, there are reasons why all your posts show up in green for me. :)

They depress wages, pull money out of our economy, and in the long run, their health care costs, education costs and issues with criminality far out-weigh the benefits we might get out things like lower food costs. Not to mention the way large sections of land near the border are now trashed or barely inhabitable.

Instead of encouraging uneducated people from third world countries, we need to be encouraging educated people from other first world countries to come here so we can retain the edge we're quickly losing.

As for the people hiring them, stop it you jackasses. Stop making money by farking over everyone around you.

Vertdang I couldn't have said it better myself. Unfortunately much of the U.S. (the Northeast) doesn't actually see this problem firsthand. The situation in the Southwest coupled with the federal government's refusal to supply adequate resources to control the problem has made this a huge burden for us (as well as subsidizing many unnamed midwest states). I'm all for legal immigration but we really need to figure out a way to enforce our borders better and also to crack down on those companies who hire illegals.

Well, according to electoral law, certain parties need a certain ammount of votes so they stay registered. If this percentage is not met, the party loses the registration, either state-wise or nationally.

You are looking at the symptom and not the disease. The disease is, in part, high taxation and exessive busywork regulation that costs a farkton to comply with.

The underlying source of many of those problems; kidnapping and gang activity, is the result of an ineffective war on drugs. Boarder violence has been a reality for years, it is only now spilling over onto our streets. The social problems which you are describing are not (entirely) the result of immigrants in our country, most of the people who come here are actually hard working folks looking for a way to feed their families. Immigration needs to be done legally, I agree, but to blame the immigrant population, illegal or otherwise for the rise in drugs and violence is inaccurate.

This is stance I very much differ from the Democrats on. In my opinion, immigration needs to be very heavily regulated by our Government, and we need permanent additional support near our Southern border.

However, the Republicans only offered the American people a wall (with holes in it!). So I haven't really seen many good ideas comes from either camp.

I want sentry guns, 24/7 video surveillance of the entire border, and military personnel there. Border patrol can assist with the enter/exit procedures, but they aren't cutting it alone on the border.
