Swine flu kills far fewer people than regular flu.

Why all the hype?

Because one day the flu will evolve and become smart, and then it will be competing for your job.

I got the vaccine a few weeks ago. I will live to reseed the planet after all you vaccine naysayers are dust.

So is pneumonia, heart disease, cancer, the regular flu, malaria, and anything else you can think of.

Why all the hype?

Because it kills proportionally young and relatively healthy people. I think.

Also, hype stops you from thinking about how much of your life is being f'd up by the government. And stuff.

Got my vaccine back in December. No side effects whatsoever. Probably a good idea, seeing as how I've been doing a lot of flying lately.

I promised myself a Nintendo Wii and Wii Fit if I caught H1N1. Either I don't get sick, or I get a Wii. I like those odds.

/plus I could say I went Wii, Wii, Wii all the way home

H1N1 kicked the shiat out of a friend of mine. Late twenties male, has his M.D., otherwise perfectly healthy to the best of my knowledge. He spent Christmas in the ICU, and he's currently at home recovering on oxygen. It's not to be taken lightly.

Don't worry. Soon the universe is going to disappear and be replaced with something even more bizarre and inexplicable.

Curt Blizzah 2010-01-08 12:39:33 AM
According to Jesse "the Body" Ventura and his show, the Bilderbergs are behind handing out the vaccines to stop people from reproducing or some mass death conspiracy. Hence, the H1N1 scare. I don't know who to believe, the mass media hysteria or the new hysteria hotness from Tru TV.

Wouldn't surprise me if it was swine flu.

bmihura: Swine flu kills far fewer people than regular flu.
Why all the hype?

I wouldn't call the medical response hype (that's the media). But regardless:
-- H1N1 came along too late to be included in the seasonal flu vaccination.
-- A separate vaccination/education program had to be created on top of the usual annual procedures
-- Thus H1N1 is in the news a lot
-- TV news people are science-illiterate with no ability to put things in perspective or proportion
