And that other sound you hear is millions of gay guys licking their lips. Yay Scott Evans.

There have been at least two lesbian couples on All My Children since the 1980s, and yes, the ladies kissed.

So it's now Gaytime TV . I wonder what the new program lineup would look like...

And at least one of them had a child too. But I think that was from a rape. And this was all within the last year or two.

/No, don't ask me how I know this. I only watch AMC ironically.

Well foo, I watched it, and that wasn't dirty at all. It was... kinda sweet.

Seriously, though, I think subby shoulda said *male* gay love scene...

I figured they would have already broken all known taboos decades ago.

It's gay that this is a big deal.

How many night-time gay sex scenes have they aired so far?

The omission of the word "lesbionic" should have been a major tip-off.

I'm pretty sure it's nearly exclusively "gay" (or, on occasion [and depending on the context] "fag*ot"*) for male homosexuals and "lesbian" (or, on occasion [and depending on the context] "dyke"**) for female homosexuals.

*I flinch when I hear the word and I automatically know trouble's brewing when I hear it used because it's nearly never used as a term of endearment where I live (although I'm aware there are parts of the world where it is used as such).

That's Gay could mean you are telling someone the name of the sole survivor of Torpedo Squadron 8 at the Battle of Midway.

Ensign George H. Gay, Jr. the only survivor watched the entire battle while hiding under his inflatable dinghy.

Yes I went there.

Heh. My own unscientific analysis of the usage of the word fag is that it's used 50% pejoratively, 10% between gays as a term of endearment, and 40% by straight hipster kids who heard it used as a term of endearment by gays once and think it's OK for them to do so, too.

hetheeme [TotalFark] 2010-01-01 10:03:25 AM
I don't think Subby understands the Phelps clan at all.

They only protest things that have the vaguest possible connection to homosexuality, like military members who die in the name of their country which does not summarily execute homosexuals. They are cowards, trolls, and attention seeking PR geniuses (as long as they don't mind being infamous). This is a very small group of people who have received their desired worldwide infamy without ever directly confronting the people they hate so much, since that wouldn't lead to as much publicity as protesting the funerals of soldiers.

//BTW if you've ever wondered why a group of so call "christians" would engage in so much activity that drives people away from their message rather than trying to swell their ranks and spread hope etc, they are "hyper-Calvinists" who believe that God has chosen them and them alone and the rest of the world are just abominations who couldn't convert even if they wanted to, and so they are free to hate them.

When's the first episode of Rectal Hospital on?
All my Adopted Children?
The Bold and the Fabulous?

I thought gay sex on daytime TV had been the norm ever since Keith Olberman started covering Obama.

I larfed.

Now, back to our story. Probably didn't hurt matters that the two actors are absolutely smoking hot, but I see nothing edgy about it. The scene was actually rather modest.

When they air a thong-only tickle fight, I may actually tune in.

All My Children did have a lesbian wedding... but then it promptly blew up in a Soap Opera way with various hints of infidelity & jealousy & such.

/It would have fit right in on Battlestar Galactica.

Not_God 2010-01-01 11:35:57 AM
I remember watching that this week and thinking Huh. This is pretty cool. Definitely not something you see often in daytime soaps, at least with gay males. Kudos to ABC for having the guts to air it, even if it was relatively tame.

/yes, I'm a soap junkie.
//saunters away shamefully.

I think it's more along the lines of
10% gays as a term of endearment.
20% straight hipsters thinking they can use it as a term of endearment.
20% use as an outright insult, knowing full well what it is they're saying.
50% morons on multiplayer online games as all three of the above, to one degree or another.

I guess other than slashfic writers, most women aren't very interested in watching gay sex scenes.

Meh. Call me when Drew Carey and Rich Fields start making out on The Price Is Right. That would be surprising.

Fevis 2010-01-01 12:24:12 PM
And before you start in, no, I am not gay, and yes, I do have friends and co-workers who are. I have no problem with them at all. There's just something about the "I can't watch this without getting creeped out" reaction that I don't understand.

I bet women are as interested in watching gay sex scenes about as much as men are interested in watching lesbian sex scenes...

A good deal of it is that you were most probably conditioned from birth to look at it as something to recoil from. It's something that you have to consciously learn to unlearn. It's unfortunate that a lot of people don't make that effort.

I don't buy that. I wasn't conditioned against it by my family, and my community is pretty open and liberal, yet there is a distinct difference between my gut reaction to female/female and male/male displays of intimacy.
