Might work but only if they have Johnny Depp in a cameo.

Remakes need to have casting that is way off what the original had. Like Woll Smoth in Wild Wild West, that worked out well didn't it?

So a movie about 30 somethings pretending to be in high school. Is it a behind the scenes of beverly hills 90210?

voran 2009-12-21 02:30:16 AM
Hm. Of the cast of 21 jump street, how have they fared? Johnny Depp obviously has done well. Peter Deluise had success with the Stargate franchise. Holly Robinson...hanging with mr cooper? Dustin Nyguen...? Richard Greico? The guy that played Capt Fuller did ok, he's popped up in various roles in series.

DigitalCoffee 2009-12-21 02:48:34 AM
I guess they could do worse. At least they aren't doing a remake of Supertrain.

/shoulda brought in some descent writers/actors and done Kolchak: The Night Stalker
//Monday, December 21 about 2:55 A.M. DigitalCoffe makes a seemingly innocuous post to a website Fark.com. It will be the last post he ever makes...

Is there a real clamoring for this? Really?
Also, while funny, the whole crew from Knocked Up/40YOV, etc are wearing a tad thing, dontcha think?

I wouldn't call a 5-season, 103-episode run "short-lived", subby. And I'm also doubting you're old enough to lament it.

Never really watched it, but was aware of it, so I'm gonna go with a "well done, DOW!"

"Jonah Hill."

21 Jumpstreet was a great show for the quality standards of the time... (c'mon I think Alf was still running)

Damn you Judd Apatow!!

Though I would give anything to have Johnny Depp circa original 21 Jumpstreet. god he was so hot.

I hope this movie fails and that Jonah Hill goes away forever. I am so tired of him yelling on the screen in every movie. (except 40YOV which was his only tolerable role, but it was also about 30 seconds long)

It's supposed to be a short movie. Producers say they'll get it all done in 3.3 seconds.

Bennie Crabtree 2009-12-21 08:30:42 AM
21 Jump Street is one of the few shows that has always been recalled fondly, by everyone, in my experience. Even the MAD Magazine version wasn't all that scathing.

Depp looks kinda like a chick, but I bet Grieco would appreciate you more.

Whoa. I am also reminded how every teenager in a tv show looks like a twenty-five year old. Hmm.

It's sad that I can sing the Simpson's version of a "I'm a Bill" verbatim but have almost completely forgotten their version.

His talk show was greatness.
And he managed to set Pappa Bear straight on a few things.

I loved that show so much. They made my Jr. High years! I even bought the first season on DVD, and keep meaning to get the others. I really did love it. But then, since I made that purchase I haven't watched more than the first disk. Perhaps it just belongs in my fond memories.

Part of me is hating the idea of some cheesy remake. They'll probably make them undercover paranormal investigators looking for emo vampires who sparkle while they brood. Who the heck could they cast that could come anywhere near the awesomeness of Depp?

that High school musical kid? no.

The other part of me is all yeeeeee. 21 Jump Street! We never thought of finding a place where we'd belong (Holly Robinson Rock out)lalalala

That's the part I try to hide.

a) 21 Jump Street was a pretty good show
b) Jonah Hill should be nowhere near this.

acereraser 2009-12-21 06:10:49 PM
At the time of the original, I was ripe for their demographic plucking, but I thought their premise was completely wrong-headed.

Really, you want me to identify with these cool, high-school narcs? I had the sneaking suspicion Nancy Reagan had a hand in it, and I wanted no part.
