"The trade publication said that Disney Studios chief Rich Ross put the project into turnaround"

Hero.

Seriously, there were a bunch of cool new trailers for upcoming movies released. Let's greenlight a thread about those instead.

Doing the right thing, finally an original idea out of Hollywood.

Old Dogs looks like it should have some funny moments. That being said, it doesn't look like something I want to go blowing a wad of money to see at the theatre. It just screams rental. I'm sure the studio executives know this. Releasing these movies in the theatre only act as publicity to get the name in the minds of the public who say to themselves "I'm going to rent that when it comes out."

That movie Wild Hogs did lousy in the theatre but I know plenty of people that wanted to rent it or buy it on DVD.

I wonder if we're seeing the death of the actor-driven movie in Hollywood. It would be about time, really.

This. Anybody sane avoids direct-to-video releases as if they were carcinogens - but theatrical releases for a lot of films are kinda pointless, and only serve to provide legitimacy for the film once it hits the video store.

Aww, and I was so looking forward to Mild Frogs, Blind Blogs, Fried Logs, etc.

It's not even worth that. It was unwatchable. I cringed through the entire movie, at least when I wasn't staring holes into my friend that convinced me to buy the ticket.

Robin Williams should play Gerdo Ikari in the Evangelion movie if he is still alive to perform.

I have to say his best movie was Good Will Hunting. What a Titanic film.

Oh joy, another Robin Williams-bashing thread! I just LOVE those!

/sarcasm

Yeah, Old Dogs looked like crap, but why Disney blaming him? He didn't write the script. Look, I've been a Robin Williams fan for years, and even I acknowledge he's made mistakes in his career. But that doesn't mean he deserves to be the butt monkey of celebrities. If anything, I'm mad at Disney for releasing this crap after Robin won everyone's respect back with World's Greatest Dad (awesome movie, btw)!

/Watching "The Big White", Another good recent film of his. Underrated though.
