This is the type of link we used to see before Scott Wampler and his ilk infected this site with 1000 word interpretations of some stolen Examiner-embedded YouTube clip of a cat sh*tting on a carpet.

Oh man, I've always wanted to go on that thing. It looks like a good time. Maybe now I can get a discount on the tickets.

Well, they can call it an improv murder mystery train now.

Let me guess, he won't be doing that again, right? Doesn't matter, the world needs a few less drunks and homeless people.

That was an extremely informative slide show of the accident. This one kinda of summed it all up for me and really made it strike home.

subby earns FAIL tag for failing to use IRONIC tag at an actually appropriate opportunity.

if subby has previously inappropriately used IRONIC tag, subby earns a second FAIL tag for that and a third FAIL tag for not learning his lesson.

furthermore, subby earns a STUPID tag for applying the FLORIDA tag to something that had little or nothing to do with the makeup of the FLORIDA population as being of freaks and weirdos.

I flipped on NPR the other day and they were talking about ingrained murder is into American pop culture (CSI, Law & Order, etc.). They were interviewing people who knew someone who was actually murdered and asking how they felt about it. One of the ladies brought up a good point: it's not like you ever see a rape mystery dinner.

Generally Rape victims can identify the assailant murder victims generally don't have the opportunity. It makes it more Mysterious I suppose.

That was an episode (an old rerun) of This American Life...it was an interesting episode...we're definitely obsessed with the murdering, but one must wonder how one would feel about Law & Order or the like if one had lived through an experience like that.

Passengers on the rail had paid $75 for a scenic train ride to a boat cruise in Punta Gorda and a five-course dinner. The journey was delayed by two hours due to the crash.

They flew there for vacation and rented a nice sedan.

Assuming he was still breathing. Otherwise, a convenient way to cover the cause of death.

Had the comment that it was a mystery train been in the article instead of the comments it would be appropriate to debate the merits of the IRONIC tag. I find it likely that the commenter was trying to maliciously stir up just such sentiment.

And yes, it would be ironic if true. Irony is like acidity, not pregnancy. If the pH is high enough, it passes the litmus test.

jtown 2009-12-15 02:35:13 PM
$75 for a train ride, cruise, 5 course meal, and interactive theater? That's a pretty good deal.

From the article:
The man, who has not been identified by authorities, was struck and killed by a Murder Mystery Dinner Train around 9:15 p.m.

Irony, as my English teacher always said, involves the incongruity between the expected result and the actual result.
