Show me a comic book that haven't been made into a movie lately, and I will show you JJ Abrams next project.

I am betting on... JJ Abrams' presents: BATMAN as you have never seen it before!

I see James Van Der Beek as Batman.

I read on IMDB a few weeks ago that the next Trek was slated for 2011, so I don't think it will be pushed back any further since that accommodates time for another movie to be made in the meanwhile.

Push it off the cliff along with any other bad reboots they've got in mind.

Makes sense. They haven't even figured out the script for the potential next movie, and Abrams has already said he isn't going to sign on just because he did the last one. He's also said that he will do it if they give him a good script. As long as they don't decide to redo any of the original movies, I think there's potential.

I do hope they take advantage of the fact that the events of this last movie have basically put us in a parallel universe, and just do whatever they want.

For example, I've heard that they might do a movie with Khan in it. Why?

That's apparantly mostly fans and people interviewing Abrams, not anyone planning the script.

The didn't stop him the first time.

JJ's got the juice to make any movie he wants. I hope he uses that juice wisely and does something original.

MI3 was easily the best of those movies. Hopefully it isn't killed. And I know I'm not alone when I say I want more Star Trek.

I don't get why fans want another Khan movie.

This. Never remake a really, really good movie - you will inevitably produce a disappointment.

I know that Damon Lindelof said that he wasn't interested in doing The Dark Tower anymore for various reasons, but I don't believe that JJ Abrams has commented on this at all. Maybe Abrams is gearing up for a Dark Tower film/show? That seems like a "tentpole" project to me. I will also add that I look upon the idea of a Dark Tower film/show with equal parts excitement and trepidation.

You know, they could try something with that Romulan commander from "The Balance of Terror". The "In a different reality, I could have called you friend" guy.

If his next project isn't Dark Tower, which he said was coming after Lost was over....well, fark him.

He's not his friend, pal.

Good. His "Star Trek" sucked.

TheJerd2k5 2009-12-14 09:14:02 PM
Unfortunately last month, he, Carlton Cuse, and Damon Lindelof said that they won't be doing The Dark Tower, so I'm not sure WHAT his next project is going to be.

so, let me get this straight, according to the studio and franchise suits, after 40 years j.j. abrams is the only director who can make a decent star trek movie, and if he's unavailable none can be made?
pathetic.

There were 19 comments when I came in here. I'm going to take that as a sign that Santa's Dog is correct.

Cloverfield sequel? It's certainly tent-pole material. . .

Yeah, we wouldn't want another "Mission: Impossible" flick from the guy who made what was easily the best film of the series, would we?!?

In a perfect world, "Star Trek 2" won't start production until Lindelof and Cuse are completely done with "Lost" -- that way, they can write the script, or at least doctor whatever Orci and Kurtzman deliver. (That pesky writers strike won't get in the way this time, so that will help too.)

I want to see Terry O'Quinn as a Klingon, dammit. Make it so.

Vertdang 2009-12-15 03:33:38 AM
I want to see the next Trek be very Klingon heavy.

Give us some background into Klingon history and culture, and then add a ton of PEW PEW.

TheWizard 2009-12-15 11:40:16 AM
Vertdang: Give us some background into Klingon history and culture,

I heard that they don't talk about that.
