Dick Enberg is the standard that all broadcasters should be aiming for. Baseball, football, tennis, etc. -- you name it, and he does an excellent job.

The happiest years in my life were Dick Enberg and Merlin Olsen on the Broncos broadcasts. That and the '91 Orange Bowl: "Oh my! It's #1 for Colorado!"

In college Enberg came to my broadcasting class for some informal Q & A. I meant to ask him if it was difficult moving from one sport and to other networks. What I actually asked was why he jumped ship to CBS (from NBC). He handled it smoothly, but you could tell he was a little perturbed. I was horribly embarrassed at my inability to communicate with someone whose work I respected.

Have no fear, Physioc & the Wonder Dog were given the axe a week or two ago. Terry Smith & Rory Markus are the play by play guys for radio & TV with Mark Gubicza & Jose Mota doing color.

The Angels at one time had Enberg, Don Drysdale, and Dave Niehaus, who went on to become a local legend in Seattle. It was good listening, and KMPC had a strong AM signal. Enberg's a class guy.

Have any of you guys ever tried to watch a Padres game on tv? The announcing is absolutely AWFUL. (I guess it mimics the talent on the field) Anything will be a step up from what they had.

I like Enberg but his pronounciaton of "Mark San-CHEZ" annoys me a bit.
