My oldest sister has been a nurse for about 20 years. I am convinced they are all insane to some extent. Might have something to do with the job. Maybe.

You NEED to be crazy to want to be a nurse.

/Worked with nurses.
//Love them.
///The work is tough.

This. 13 years I've worked with them, and it made me crazy.

Well, the crop of nurses I know that are working on their Nursing BS are complete self-centered idiots who can't do math to save their live, so I don't see why we can't have crazy too.

dbirchall [TotalFark] 2009-12-01 12:53:19 PM
I don't think the nurses are half as crazy as the psychologists.

Well, last time I was in a hospital at least one nurse was wandering from room to room asking people if they wanted some
"ray icky." Aparently she believes that waving her hands over a cancer patient will cure their cancer. Fruity as a nut-cake, and it was apparently spreading through that hospital.

Maybe i'm mistaking stupid for crazy? They can look a lot alike.

TofuTheAlmighty 2009-12-01 02:55:48 PM
For nursing, a little bit of crazy helps.

Why yes, I am married to a nurse, a PICU charge nurse to be precise.

Good in the sack? Fark yes
Case closed.

Mock26 2009-12-01 02:57:55 PM
Of course crazy nurses can still be good and effective. After all, it is not like it matters exactly where that rectal thermometer goes, so long as it goes inside of the patient! Heck, pre-existing hole not even needed!

Reiki. (pops)

I would categorise that more as silly, pointless woo than full-blown psychosis. Just another placebo to hand out.

To be fair, it is a bit alarming when actual medical practitioners dabble in quackery.

A couple of years ago when taking care of my terminally ill mother, I spent more time in hospitals in various wings, and in outpatient physical rehab centers than I ever thought I would, and the one thing that struck me about the nurses was how many of them were obese. Not just chubby, but actually morbidly obese. I really wonder why that is, and whether anyone else has noticed this.

All I know is that if a hospital KNEW that a nurse had a mental problem and that problem then caused the nurse injure me or my family the lawyers I would hire would look like this:

I'm around hospitals pretty regularly (not for my own needs, mind you), and this doesn't really reflect my own experiences. The nurses seem to be no different than the general population in terms of body shapes, if not generally more fit and trim due to the amount of time spent on their feet.

For some reason (I have no idea why), I find hospital scrubs rather attractive and hot, and dear heavens, some days after seeing a bunch of good looking nurses in scrubs, I'm ready to go home and absolutely wreck my wife. Rawr.

Loony-bin female occupation rankings:
1. Psychologist
2. Nurse
3. HS Teacher

I know a HS teacher with her degree in psychology. Batshiat insane.
My sister is a hospice nurse, also batshiat insane.

I recon IT is among the loony-bin male occupation rankings but at least I wait for somebody to give me a reason before I go all wonky on them.

Scrubs make virtually everyone's ass look wide. Maybe you have astigmatism.

"People don't tend to disclose mental illness because of the lack of understanding, the fear of discrimination, and the stigma attached to mental health conditions."

Bullplop. I've never known a truly crazy person whose insanity wasn't their favorite topic of conversation.
