Discipline will be swift and severe. The cop will be fired by Friday.

Oh fark, I hate the Gators, but that is one of the dumbest laws. He was asleep in his car. Don't know all the details, so he may have been parked on someone's lawn, but for fark's sake if a drunk is responsible enough to sleep it off, let him.

Wasn't it also a Gator player that held up a man and the victim decided not to press charges because the team "needed" the player?

"According to Gainesville Police, Dunlap was found asleep in a Chrysler at an intersection where he did not move after the lights changed several times."

I was almost arrested at the same intersection after finals!

As part of his release, he cannot possess alcohol, illegal drugs and any prescription drugs that are not prescribed to him.

Isn't this pretty much the law for everyone underage???

Urban Meyer just released a statement saying look over there its Tim Tebow, isn't he such a great guy.

I'm sure justice will be served. He'll likely be suspended for Bama's first defensive possession and the post game press conference.

The article very clearly states that he was asleep in the middle of an intersection, and the car was in gear with the motor running. This was not a case of the dude sleeping it off. Unless you know anybody else who decided, while their car was still in gear, that stopping for a nap in the middle of an intersection was a good idea, shut your farking mouth.

in the middle of an intersection, with the car still in drive.

Police said they feared Dunlap would take his foot off the brakes and the car would cause an accident. After entry was gained, the car was put back in park and the engine turned off.

Urban Meyer this week, "We will let the legal process run its course and will not make any decisions until then. By the time our lawyers let this go to court, we will have played the SEC championship and our bowl game. Wait did I say that out loud?"

Try University of Tennessee. Two players dismissed for the armed robbery, the starter however had the charges dropped.

No. Never heard of such an incident. The victim has no say in the filing of charges for armed robbery anyway.

If you are referring to recently, that was the 2 Tennessee players that tried to rob someone (a 3rd player was arrested but charges dropped after it was determined he had no idea what the other 2 knuckleheads were doing). Read the victim's statement Link (new window)

If you are referring to earlier this year, there was a Alabama man who was thrilled a domestic violence incident involving his daughter and a Bama player was dropped. He said "Roll Tide" to the assembled reporters afterward.

Fan asshattery has no specific team allegiance. Like it or now, all our favorite teams have morons like that supporting them as well.

As for the case at hand, goddamitsomuchyoufarkingmoron! It would be hypocritical for me to sit here and say not suspend him since I want to see the Gators win, but passing out in a car, in gear, and at an intersection is not a "he's just a college kid, leave him alone!" thing. He needs to be suspended for the SEC championship game 100% and probably for the bowl game as well (depending on how he handles the situation in the month between).

The player will suspend himself from all practices for the SEC Championship game and from all practices for w/e Bowl game they get invited to.

Perhaps he could have a Come To Jesus meeting with Tebow in front of the press. That way, Tebow can absolve him and he'll be able to play this weekend!

8_octave_8 2009-12-01 01:48:31 PM
I like how the analysts are saying that his absence will change Alabama's game plan. Florida was only going to suspend Spikes for the first half of the Vanderbilt game. Vanderbilt.

Don't the Gators lead the NCAA in arrests the last five years?

Once the blinding radiance of Tebow is gone, Meyer's in for some questions.

I eagerly await the hard-hitting journalists at ESPN investigating this matter.

Texas had a kid picked up for DUI over Thanksgiving. He's been suspended for the remainder of the season. The difference was that he was a little used freshman.

In fairness to Mack Brown, I remember him cutting Ramonce Taylor, who accounted for 15 TDs on the 2005 team and was set to be the starting RB, because of legal issues before the 2006 season. He also suspended senior DB Tarell Brown for the OSU game in 2006 after he was arrested for marijuana possession although the charges were later dropped and he was reinstated.

I hate Tennessee as much as the next guy, but the starter wasn't even in the area, as I understand it. He was in a convenient store while they're stickin' up a guy in the parking lot. Assuming that's correct, it shouldn't be at all surprising his charges got tossed.

It helps that his backup, Trattou, is a beast.

When you're asleep in the car with it in gear and the engine running while sitting stopped at a GREEN light you can count on getting a DUI pretty much everywhere.
