I guess she got her health back up to full? Next she needs to rip off a SWAT van to get body armor.

As much as an ambulance ride costs, I can see her mistaking it as a daily rental...

Fiberals? Is that a new one? What happened to libtards? I really need to keep up on politics.

Sooo sick she needed to call an ambulance, but not so sick she could drive one home?

My brother is an RN/Paramedic at the ER at Parkland in Dallas, these people are known as GOMERs - Get Out of My ER.

Happpens 100x a day and people don't pay. Wonder why "health care" cost so much?

And run a couple missions to build up her inventory of flash-bangs.

So may people were Ctrl+F'ing for "libtards" and "neo-cons" and ignoring anyone that used the terms that trolls had to adapt in order to keep from losing exposure.

Can they bill her for both the initial and a return trip?

As someone who has waited in an ER for 3 hours (after being brought in by ambulance after a car accident) I can see this being very tempting! Even though I was walking around afterwards, since I was pregnant at the time, the EMTs strapped me to a backboard, with a collar on and they wouldn't unstrap me until I'd been cleared by a doctor. What are you not supposed to do when pregnant? Lie flat on your back for extended periods of time, cuts off your circulation and blood flow to the baby. I was in more pain from that than from the actual car accident.

/probably would've walked out if I could've gotten someone to let me up!

I read it as the "Library Volunteer Ambulance Corps".

Boy, that would be one weird job.

$100.00 for the EMTs Time
$2.00 for the ambulance fuel

$1,398.00 for the GODDAMN PAPERWORK and other associated bureaucracy.

It's the Baby Boomer set of liberals...with the extra fiber they need to stay regular and whiny.

This type of run's called a gomer tote. EMTALA's the big cause. Hospitals can't say GTFO and don't come back. Ambulances can't say 'You're not really hurt or sick, call a damned cab.' The frequent flyers know these rules well and as a result, the guy who pays gets stuck with a huge bill and the folks in the ER with real needs get to wait hours.

It will get 100 times worse under Obamacare.

Is this a frequent problem in Britain, Germany, France, The Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, Cuba, Canada, Australia, Portugal, Japan, South Korea, New Zealand, Sweden, Switzerland, and Finland, by any chance?

Seems like a lot of controversy and debate over socialized medical care in the US could be addressed simply by looking around a little bit.

But, that might require being slightly less xenophobic, arrogant, and close-minded. So never mind.

Unfortunately it sounds like they were just following local BLS protocol. Paramedics in our state can "clear" c-spine in the field, however, some are hesitant due to the wonderful ambulance chasers in our society. You also did not mention how pregnant you were at the time. If was obviuos that you were pregnant that the ER staff should have had more of a clue and gotten you cleared asap.

dbirchall [TotalFark] 2009-12-02 08:10:25 PM
Yeah - if you were in a car crash and there's a chance of spinal injury, even if you were walking around afterward, it might not be a bad idea to stabilize your spine until you can be checked out. At least, that's what they taught us in First Responder class.
