I was expecting Tiger Woods. Disappointed.

I thought this was going to be Tiger Woods charging at a paparazzo.

/still cool though

Wouldn't mind seeing the unphotoshopped pic.

gopher321: I was expecting Tiger Woods

And that's why it went green! With Tiger highlighted in the news right now, any normal and intelligent person is going to think the article is about him. Priceless!!
+1 to subby! Plus pic was cool, too...

"Then the trainer would run passed me and I had to hope the tiger would keep following him and not come for me instead."

Grammar fail.

A solid 6 on the Fark 1 - 10 Bait'n'Switch scale, where 1 is NRO greenlights on the politics tab and 10 is this.

I am apparently out of the loop.
I was completely prepared for a picture of a tiger.

They make it sound like some death-defying feat, when all he did was take photos as the trainer was jogging toward him, teasing the cat with bait. Ooh, scary.

Actually, it's a spelling fail. The grammar's fine, but past is spelled wrong.

No worries; Captain Marvel was there to zap him right between the eyes if anything went awry.

I've seen a lot of photoshops in my day... look at the pixels.

Cool pic, but I couldn't get passedpast the Tony the Tiger joke.

Roger travelled to Zambia, India, Kenya and the Arctic to take the pictures over a four-year period.

Roger took the remarkable snap in a wildlife reserve in Canada.

For the love of...Canada? He got the shot in CANADA???

'Past' is spelled correctly, the wrong word has been used. GRAMMAR FAIL!

Gabriel Syme 2009-12-01 06:12:22 AM
Of course, I mean 'passed' is spelled correctly, but is the wrong word. Trying to do some grammar Nazi-ing whilst misquoting people is probably a bad idea.

Pretty sure you are seeing the unphotoshopped pic... looks to me like the photographer is zooming out to keep the tiger in focus. Neat effect. I'd be more interested in seeing the original resolution image.

LEAVE TIGER ALONE!!

Fevis 2009-12-01 06:28:30 AM
Shopped. Take a look at the tiger's hind feet. They are planted on the ground as the cat is springing forward, so they aren't moving yet. The grass immediately around them, however, are blurred as though the camera is being zoomed to follow the tiger. The non-moving feet should be blurry too.

Fevis 2009-12-01 06:29:49 AM
is blurred, I mean.

Roy3rd 2009-12-01 06:33:28 AM

Yes very..... cunning.

its not photo shopped at all..
Here is my proof

same tiger, just sitting in the grass.

Gilligann: Wouldn't mind seeing the unphotoshopped pic.

That's not shopped. It's done by zooming in or out (my guess would be out on this one) as the shutter closes. You can get all kinds of cool effects with that technique.

The warp/blur really helps it to blend into the background.
/Intelligent design in action I presume.

True, but it's almost a little too good for someone having a tiger charging right at you. I can see it if it was a nice bright day and he's using a nice long lens from a good distance away. And having a trainer nearby helps.

Tiger hunting out in Canadah
out in

out in Canadah. Yah!

My vote is it's shopped

True, but the shutter speed required to get that blur would have meant that a tiger in mid air wouldn't be very sharp.

wickedworld 2009-12-01 07:25:46 AM
Looks shopped to me.

No. No one did. Especially not the first one.

santadog [TotalFark] 2009-12-01 07:28:03 AM
I wonder how many people would be calling "DARKROOMED" if they saw the same photo 20 years ago.

And yes, that effect can be done with a lens being zoomed out as the photo is being taken. If this is the case, damn fine image.

santadog [TotalFark] 2009-12-01 07:31:07 AM
Now that I have RTFA... I say not shopped. It was a staged shot, they did it multiple times and the effect is from zooming the lens as the photo is being taken.

LoneVVolf 2009-12-01 07:38:38 AM
Terrifying. The look on that tiger's face just screams... well it screams "oh drat, did i leave the oven on again?", but it's still terrifying!

AliasUndercover 2009-12-01 07:40:01 AM
I don't see imp[ending death in those eyes. I see maybe impending belly-rub, but not death...
