I need to get me one of them thar kettles.

I could pass for a salvation army bell-ringer.

Gold closed at about $1140 today, a K-rand would be worth at least $1300.

Actually that statement is inverted; it would be truer to say, a dollar is "worth" 1/1140 Oz. in real money.

It is all a matter of viewpoint.

They can probably get the full five dollar's worth if they send it to Cash4Gold. I heard they're having a holiday special.

Such a vapid and transparent manipulation of the media every God damned year. These gold coin stories have persuaded me that the Salvation Army is about the same on the creepy-cult scale as Scientology.

THE GIG IS UP PEOPLE. We get it. Now crawl back into whatever cave you operate that cult out of and fiddle with your pseudo-military costumes for the other 335 days of the year while you fritter away all the cash you scammed off an innocent public on Lord knows what type of Jesus-based hocus-pocus.

Everyone knows they spend it on hookers and blow. Is there really any better way to spend money scammed off idiots?

Most of the time religion is the real problem hindering the poor from advancing their lives.

It's all going to fund the militant wing of the Salvation Army

I considered doing this with an Indian Head 2.5 dollar coin from 1915. I have another one in my collection, and I don't need it, and it would make a cute story that the newspaper could report it, and then maybe people would donate a dollar when they walked by.

But then I remembered that the Salvation Army is a jesus organization.

So I decided against it, and will donate money normally.

Who assigned such value to gold? I mean what is it really; a shiny metal that you can make into cufflinks and coins?

What's the big farking deal about gold? Is life assigning gold a WoW license or what?

Maybe label me a conspiracist, but does anyone else think that the Salvation Army peppers a few of the kettles themselves with gold coins to get some ink during the holidays?

It's a huge Ron Paul, Fed, NWO conspiracy. I don't really get it, but you should be scared.

Can't the same be said of the paper you have in your wallet?

Nope. A Krugerrand is a 1oz gold coin with no face value. Its value comes only from the gold it contains. Figure spot plus 20$ spread. http://past.coininfo.com/homepg.php

It's called 'cognitive dissonance'. See, when reality doesn't fit with your bullshiat ideas, you become uncomfortable and try to rationalize. Karma is like that. Here we have a fine example of a dumbass who wasted $50 on nothing but thinks he was personally rewarded for it in ways other than just feeling good about helping people.

1. Write book about how media passes of crap like seasonal stories as news.

2. Link to these seasonal stories on your website.

3. Profit???

Wanna use a more reliable source than some crappy book by an unknown author?

It's obvious those statistics are skewed - it leaves out a couple continents (Asia, Australia, South America). Besides, correlation doesn't mean causation. How does religion CAUSE poverty?

Maybe it was accidently dropped in the kettle; because it was wrapped up in a dollar bill?

Do they get paid?

1. Parole is a biatch.

2. Ringing a bell for the Salvation Army > Hanging with the drug-addled assholes who landed you in prison in the first place.

3. You lead a very insulated life, don't you?

Yes, I'm Lord Reginald Rockefeller-Trump III, thus I have no idea what the common salvation army Santa's back-story is.

I shall leave you to your "teevee" diners and wine from a box whilst I jet to France for a late snack.

I'll admit it: I've been anonymously dropping World Trade Center Memorial Coins made with silver recovered from Ground Zero (tm) into kettles. I hope the Salvation Army volunteers enjoy watching the towers rise majestically from the ashes.
