I'm sure many people will be giving him two thumbs up on his admirable climb back to productive society.

...wait, those aren't thumbs.

I hope they take him back. I am sick of him being an Eagle already.

Knowing what Atlanta fans are like, I wouldn't be surprised.

I'll second that and I am pretty sure that there is a "special" place in hell for him...

I think he deserves a standing ovulation.

Cagey B [TotalFark] 2009-11-30 03:30:13 PM
Does Georgia have a dog being nailed to a tree by its ears on its state flag? Is Atlanta powered by a giant chamber of burning Saint Bernards?

Because if these things are not true, I believe that Mr. Vick is somewhat off-base here.

Nabb1 [TotalFark] 2009-11-30 03:32:50 PM
Regardless of Vick, I hope the Iggles stomp the Falcons and hand the NFC South division win to the Saints. Oddly, that would continue the worst-to-first trend the division has had for a number of years now.

Saborlas [TotalFark] 2009-11-30 03:41:10 PM
How about a clucking ovulation via air mail? The delivery may have sat in a warehouse a little too long.

I'm in Atlanta fairly often. Given what I've seen there each time... I've no doubt he'll get his ovation.

Absolutely, a standing ovation of middle fingers.

Based on what I see of the Falcons fans that show up once a year in New Orleans, assuming they are an accurate sample of the whole, I'm thinking he'll get a warm reception. I still saw a bunch of them wearing No. 7 jerseys here earlier this season.

Yeesh. If the Saints fans think the Falcons fans are out of hand, they must be really bad.

I've got plenty of hate to spare. And the guy that killed the four cops isn't going to make millions of dollars this year playing a farking game for my entertainment. Neither is the Taliban.

I think the NFL is disgraceful in letting this waste of oxygen back in.

True, but now that comes to the line of petty jealousy doesn't it?

I mean it's just money. If you have the capability of making millions, losing it all, going through our country's legal system without abusing your rank, and getting out and making millions again. That's good despite how petty jealous we may be.

Our laws weren't broken, no one was played...he got a bigger punishment than most think he deserves. Bad people make millions all the time. Check out the guy that American Gangsters was written about.

Probably hopeless because I don't want to defend what the guy did, once agian I'm a dog lover, just surprised about peoples willingness to throw the "Death" word around. Probably just hit a button in me today.

I love dogs and don't have a problem hating dog abusers at the same time I hate murderers. It's pretty much an across the board loathing for cruel, disgusting and senseless violence against anything really.

But he's making money with me as the consumer. He's playing a sport that I watch. So that really pisses me off. Also, I donate time and money to the ASPCA, so animal cruelty is a big issue for me.

Vick was immensely popular in Atlanta, even after the news about him being a scum-sucking, no-account piece of crap dog killer. So yes, it's pretty likely he will get a nice ovation.

You are only a consumer by choice. You can refuse to watch the NFL. Your hate of Vick must be less than your love of the game.

Frankly I wish that the NFL had not let him back in. Thankfully my team (Colts) are in the AFC so I don't have to see him. It would be interesting if all NFC team fans would just refuse to watch games he is in. That would get the NFL's attention.

If the NFL sticks to its current scheme the Colts will play Philly next year. Don't know which stadium.

Of the thousands of fans who come to the game, I'm sure most of them will stay in their seats, giving them the opportunity to sit and not stand for the return of Vick. Tickets might fetch a pretty penny for the opportunity to see Vick gain a paltry two yards before the refs whistle the play dead. The Eagles have been on a roll over the past few weeks, but the Falcons will make them beg for mercy. Sorry, but I choose to speak my mind on this issue, and I'm not going to lay down and be quiet.

As an Atlantan, I am almost certain Vick will receive his standing O. I will applaud him. These were dogs, people. He did 2 freaking years for dogs. Stallworth did 24 days for a hispanic man. Vick did his time, and he is a productive member of society now. Leave the man alone.

Maybe if the game was played in southwest atlanta, then yes he will get a huge ovation. But the game isnt played there and most of the people going to the game do not have that "its part of our culture" mentality so he will most likely be booed

Im hoping he gets batteries thrown at him and a few dog collars/leashes.

The difference, of course, between what Stallworth did and what Vick did is light years apart. What Stallworth did was reckless, inexcusable, and at the end of the day, an accident as far as everyone involved is concerned. Donte Stallworth did not get into that car and intend to harm anyone, though that was the tragic result of his poor decision. Michael Vick intentionally set out to engage in an ongoing criminal conspiracy in violation of state and federal law. His enterprise operated for a number of years, meaning every day, he woke up, and decided he was going to perpetuate an ongoing crime, to say nothing of the barbaric cruelty he perpetuated. I really don't feel the need to give the man a break, honestly. Many people have fared far worse than Mr. Vick for doing far less, so excuse me if I don't consider his fate a grave injustice.

Many have fared far better for far worse. That's all I'm saying. I personally feel he has repaid his debt, I guess most of you don't. Just a difference of opinion I 'spose. By the way, in case any of you are wondering, I am white. I have noticed the "in our culture" thing mentioned a lot, but there are some white folks out there that think he has done his time. Anyhow, cheers.

Vick never spent a minute in jail for fighting dogs. He was jailed for running an interstate gambling operation. And your attempt to equate the two situations is pathetic. One was an accident with the victim just as much to blame as the perpetrator and one a planned, deliberate action that tortured and killed hundreds (if not thousands) of innocent victims.fark Vick, and double-fark anyone who would cheer for him.

I don't see Stallworth getting a paycheck or out on the field these days, do you? It was a farking accident. Stupid? Yes. Avoidable? Maybe, I wasn't there and neither were you. At least he owned up to it and accepted his punishment like a goddamn man. Can Michael "It's My Culture" Vick say that?

I don't defend what the guy did, but he served his time, unlike many other celebrity criminals. He has a right to try to make a living. We don't have to like him. I suspect that the greeting he gets in Atlanta will be a chorus of barking and growling.

Which is their normal speech pattern in Atlanta anyway.

The time for the state charges ran concurrent to the federal charges, so I would say he did. (of course, my understanding of the situation may be flawed, thats just what I've read)

And it isn't pathetic. It is a difference in philosophy. I think the ends of an act are just as important as the intent of the act. You clearly think the intent is the only important factor. And all of that is fine. Like I said before, it's a difference of opinion.

So do plenty of other sociopaths walking the streets: murderers, rapists, child molesters, torturers, etc. No one gives them a pass for "serving their time." But I guess the standard is different for guys who can used to be able to run fast.

Bull. Vick was never tried for dogfighting in Virginia. So nothing was concurrent, the state declined to charge him because of who he is. Because of his celebrity he got off amazingly light. He should still be in prison and would be if his name was not Michael Vick.

Gross generalizations are fun, eh? Clearly there is a difference in severity for different crimes. If someone is convicted of shoplifting and does his time, are you going to bring the same scorn down upon him as the murderer? (and before you say it, I would not continue to hold it against either if they both did their time. I would also watch my wallet around the former thief and my back around the former murderer. Forgiving and cautious are not mutually exclusive qualities.)

You'd think Goodell and the NFL would have some sort of felony conviction restriction on employment. I wonder if a felon could work in their front office?

Like I said, I could be wrong. I am no scholar on the case. I know he did the time he was required to serve for the crimes with which he was charged. That is enough for me. If you think he should be charged with more, get mad at the state, not the man.

In no way defending Vick, but Stallworth's wasn't an accident. Getting into a car and driving while drunk is tantamount to murder.
