Hey! My city on fark... Here's the full report:

On 11/26/09 at approximately 19:20 hours (7:20 p.m.) I was dispatched to the Ridge Cinema, 5200 S. Moorland Road, for a report of a stolen ceramic chipmunk.

Michael B. O'Donnell (the theater manager) had come to work on 11/26/09 and discovered that one of the Ridge Cinema's three ceramic chipmunks had been stolen. I was informed that the stolen ceramic chipmunk was named "Simon." Simon had been given to the theater to promote a new movie and O'Donnell stated that the value of (the 4-1/2-foot-tall) Simon was approximately $100.

O'Donnell showed me the (surveillance) footage and I saw that (Beris) grabbed Simon and proceeded to run out through the main entrance.

I looked at further surveillance footage and saw that (Beris) had used his VISA credit card to purchase movie tickets.

I then called (Beris' home) and spoke with the father. The suspect called me back almost immediately and, while laughing, admitted to the theft.

Beris stated that when he was walking out of the movie he had observed that there were no movie theater employees around. He saw Simon and decided to steal him. He told me that he had broken Simon's tail when he had tried to fit Simon in the trunk of his car. He agreed to turn himself in and bring Simon along with him to the New Berlin Police Department.

I later contacted the Ridge Cinema and was informed that if Simon was returned they would not seek any restitution for the broken tail.

Beris (and his friend) came into the lobby of the New Berlin Police Department at approximately 2230 hours (10:30 p.m.) on 11/26/09 with Simon. I placed handcuffs on (the suspect) per department policy.

(Beris) provided a written statement where he wrote, "To be completely honest with you, I really have no idea why I took Simon. It was the heat of the moment kind of thing. If I could take it back, I would."

I then issued him a municipal summons for theft.
