Kind of. They "detain" you while they search your car, which is just arresting you with out charging you with anything or reading you your Miranda rights.

Occasionally people are detained for being drunk in public; the police put them in the slammer for the night to sleep it off, but the detainee might not get charged with anything depending on the circumstances (of which there are many).

You have no idea.
Stimulation, while exciting and at times, very useful, can be a bad thing in excess. Sleep dep and amphetamine psychosis is an extremely scary reality. Not being able to trust what you hear, see, smell, taste or feel is a lonely and pathetic existance.
