And that is their problem, not yours?

George Takei does not qualify as "everyone who has ever worked with you." I checked IMDB. Shatner has 195 acting credits listed. George Takei would only qualify as .00826%, approximately, of "everyone who has ever worked with you."

Or as Shatner would say it:

"Bonvolu ..... alsendi la .....pordiston? Lausajne ....estas.. rano en mia bideo KHAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!"

/no, i have no idea what those words mean, but it makes little difference in Shatnarian speech.

Always love that attitude. Be a selfish prick to people for years, then pull the whole victim routine when they want nothing to do with you later on.

/enjoy watching Shatner, wouldn't want to be his "friend"

CowboyNinjaD 2009-11-30 05:02:48 PM
I'm pretty sure Denny Crane is the closest thing he's ever played to his real self.

Everybody has friends like that (if you don't it's probably you), but they're best in small doses.

Ya know, there's a reason why Wil always refers to him as William F-ing Shatner...

Maybe if Shatner didn't have a reputation of being a jerk to everybody things would be different.

Ok, so I may have exagerrated (yes,I hyperbole--my average is 225) :-)

But he pretty much said so himself. And wil has actually got a pretty interesting story about his interactions with Shatner as well (new window).

It sounds to me like people tend to get sick of his ego rather quickly.

Oi, asshole, about those NSFW warnings when linking to porno domains.

Keywork99 2009-11-30 05:15:36 PM
If you haven't seen it, go on YouTube and search for the William Shatner/Leonard Nimoy panel from Dragoncon 2009. It's great.

Nimoy to Shatner: "Seen any good movies, lately?"

He tells the New York Post, "I've asked them (my co-stars) numerous times to see if I can assuage their bitterness. I don't know what their problem is, quite frankly, so I've given up on trying to make it better. I don't like any ill-feeling, and if there was something I could do to correct it I would. But nothing seems to work."

he added, "i've even reminded them how awesome i am several times, and not even that works."

Don't even joke about that subby. Have you ever watched Incubus? I own it on VHS and you've likely never experienced pain like that. 45% of the movie is people walking. The rest is Shatner Shat-acting in Esperanto. *breaks down crying*

Tsar_Bomba1 2009-11-30 05:35:48 PM
This coming from the guy that poured over the scripts to make sure he had the most words?

If memory serves (and feel free to correct) there was a scene shot with George and Bill on ST5 where Sulu was getting command of his own ship.

Evidently Bill kept blowing his lines (according to Takei on purpose) and pretty much rendered the scene unusable.

Many years ago I went to a convention where James Doohan was speaking. While he didn't say anything outright he pretty much hinted he couldn't stand him. Had good things to say about everyone else though.

Couple of years after that saw George down in Birmingham. Was as nice as could be and was pretty funny.

Back in my day you couldn't get an autograph from Bill without shelling out $200. Don't know what it runs now.

You're gonna die alone Bill... but you did it to yourself. You've had a great resurgence but your philosophy of The Path Before Me Is Lit By The Bridges Burning Behind Me has finally caught up with you. Live Choke on with it.

you can't repair being an asshat for as many years as he was. I dunno how many times I heard he had fellow cast members lines axed because they had more then he did.
plus he should be focusing his efforts on TJ Hooker

You could try jumping through that COTEOF time machine and return to 1966. Once there live the next 44 years not being a prick to everyone you work with. That might work.

A friend of mine will agree with your assessment of George. He went on a "Trek Cruise" to Alaska and George was one of the guests. My friend and George went hiking on a glacier looking for eagles. He said that George was really cool.

The events and careers since the late 60's
have shown conclusively who the real talent
on Star Trek was.

Takei did manage to get a spot in the Shatner roast.
