I saw Ewing a handful of times in my old Orlando gym (where the Magic practice..and their dancers work out..rawr!).. and that man is huge and looks like he's devolving daily.
He is proof we all come from monkeys.. I know it!

I watched the Nets/Lakers JV's game last night and I think I can say the Nets couldn't win the Special Olympics.

You have to keep in mind that he missed a lot of free throws because he got a lot of free throws.

Cue the "That's Racist!" kid.

And I always felt bad for Ewing. The Knicks were such a shiate organization. He'd have to go against Jordan,Pippen,etc.. and Drex,Hakeem,etc.. all by himself.

Along similar lines, Shaq has missed more free throws than Larry Bird has made.

No love for Starks?

Being a Knicks fan obviously I was big on Ewing, but I think Bill Simmons is right when he said Ewing wasn't ever going to be a #1 guy for a championship team. He needed to be a 2nd guy or in a 1a/1b situation. And Starks and Oak weren't quite going to cut it.

I mean, look at the '94 Finals. Hakeem ate him for lunch, and that was even before Houston had Drexler.

or laying it up and missing when a simple dunk would have clinched the game.

I was in a bar in NYC (well Queens) when the network switched to the OJ chase during the Finals. I thought there was going to be a riot.

Starks in game 7 is my scapegoat for 1994. He only did one good thing in his career (pops), and any 90s Knicks fan should know what the video is without even clicking that link (also should have had the poster in his/her room.)

But that's all going to change next year right? When we sign Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh, Amare Stoudemire, Joe Johnson, Tracy McGrady, Yao Ming, Dirk Nowitzki, Magic Johnson, Chamberlain, Jordan, Bird, Gretzky, and Earl The Goat Manigault.

Starks in game 7 was beyond horrible, and should be the biggest scapegoat. But Ewing didn't exactly shine either. Hakeem did.

And all that's worthless unless we sign Babe Ruth. Duh.

Kenny Mayne: Patrick Ewing actually makes an open shot, and the Knicks win an important game.

Charles Barkley: Patrick, are you having another dream about your crappy jumpshot?

I have great memories of Ewing.
Like the time Jordan dunked on him.
Lots and lots of memories.

Finger roll, Patrick, hahaha.

And it's not that he missed free throws, it's that he actually farking RAINED at the free throw line while attempting them. That guy must've been the sweatiest dude in human history.

And then the Bulls won the series and later the championship. But hey, at least you have a dunk to remember.

Isn't he teaching Dwight Howard how to play "brides maid" allready?

You know, Patrick Ewing's career FT% isn't that bad: 74%.

Or was that whooshing sound I just heard a joke going over my head?

Where is all the hate coming from? Patrick played great in '94, it was Starks' epic string ill-conceived shots that cost the Knicks game 7. Had they gotten the ball down low to Ewing they would have won the farking thing. And Bill Simmons can eat a bowl of dicks.

It's not hate. I'm a Knicks fan and I love Patrick. Doesn't change the fact that Hakeem was much better in the '94 Finals. Starks was worse, yes, but Patrick lost his head-to-head matchup.

mrjared: And Bill Simmons can eat a bowl of dicks.

If he did there would be an 800,000 word article on how the Celtic dicks tasted the best.
