Adam Richman did a similar thing on Man v. Food. Durham, North Carolina has some sort of race/competitive eating relay.

He had Dhani Jones on his team, though, soooooo...

Rice U. in Houston has had annual Beer Bike races for a long, long time. Sadly, from an entertainment aspect at least, they now have separate drinkers and racers. Used to be, each relayer had to chug a tall boy and then hop on their bike and ride fast. The stop-watched beer chugging practices were/are just as grueling as for the bike part.

Ahh, it reminds me of when I was a freshman in college. Show up at a party, chug my beer, then have to run from the cops after some idiot posted the party address on Facebook.

/Good times

FTA "For reasons that were not clear, two participants last night were wearing Maple Leaf jerseys."

Duh, you have to be drunk to cheer for the Leafs.

/Too easy?

Is there a college track team that doesn't do this?

Rowed crew in college, and we had the beer 2k: 4*(beer + row 500 m on the erg). I still contend it's more challenging than any beer mile, due to the fact that you're compressing your abdomen every two seconds.

I've only ever done one Hash run.

One guy ran for a while carrying two tires.

There was a woman in a bikini who stopped us twice for shots of whiskey. It was 30 degrees outside.

I'd rather run a mile and then have a beer as a reward. I'll never get this, or the kids I knew in college who got high to study.

Every single college track and XC team does this at some point... I "hear" it's a blast.

Meh - try doing this with beer and hot dogs (FARK bonus - all runners must be 190 lbs. or over).

Beer mile is so damn fun. I love it.

My best was about 6:45. Not puking is huge - it's the only way you can win.

FTFA:"The best advice I got was this: as soon as you start running, burp," said [women's winner Heather] Ireland. "And that worked."

Ireland paused and then added, "It's not a very classy race."

I think I'm in love.
