As accurate as any other Paki Times newspaper.

Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden was cornered by US forces in the Afghan mountains of Tora Bora just months after 9/11 and could have been killed or captured, but the military top brass decided not to attack him with the massive force at their disposal

Well how else was the Bush administration going to scare voters into re-electing them in 2004?!

High green chilly winds and windy vines
In loops around the twisted shafts of lavender,
They're crawling to the sun.

Wonder who will water all the children of the garden
When they sigh about the barren lack of rain and
Droop so hungry neath the sky.

Underfoot the ground is patched
With climbing arms of ivy wrapped around the manzanita,
Stark and shiny in the breeze.

William Tell has stretched his bow till it won't stretch
No furthermore and/or it may require a change that hasn't come before.

Non-evil Monkey 2009-11-29 09:26:31 AM
This was over 8 years ago, it's even lost it's use as a political talking point because Bush is out of office.

We had plenty of chances to capture or kill Bin Laden before 9/11 too, but those are also equally irrelevant.

Splinshints 2009-11-29 09:30:54 AM
So Bush failed to capture or kill him in Tora Bora but that's okay because of something that the idiot troll brigade is working up right now, but Clinton didn't kill him because if he'd continued with the strikes it would have been wag the dog to take interest away from the dress and his destruction of America by lying about the definition of "is" and....

Okay, the rest of you have fun being stupid now, y'hear?

I dunno. I'd say the one where we had an army in the country and a war going on for the stated purpose of killing or capturing Bin Laden is somewhat unequally irrelevant.

mrtoadswildride 2009-11-29 09:38:47 AM
AbsolutTBomb's alt: Well how else was the Bush administration going to scare voters into re-electing them in 2004?!

Right, because, "look who we caught" wouldn't have worked? If you add in the fact that the military captured Hussein (Saddam, not barack) in 2003...that would have been election gold ad gold. Bush would have won in a landslide. so would have McCain in 08.

/his, "let's let him get away so we can use fear and almost lose the election and simultaneously ruin any chance of a subsequent republican candidate winning election by dragging out 2 wars longer than needed was also a pretty good idea.
//man Karl Rove is slipping

jayessell 2009-11-29 09:39:45 AM
So my plan to nuke terrorist camps in Afghanistan and bordering areas of Pakistan 9/13
was not insane?

D-Liver 2009-11-29 09:41:10 AM
the_chief: Our war on terror goes to 11.

You see, most wars on terror, you know, will be fighting terrorists at ten. You're on ten here, all the way up, all the way up, all the way up, you're on ten on your war on terror. Where can you go from there? Where?

But couldn't we just make 10 more "shock and awe" and keep ten as the top number?

OtherLittleGuy 2009-11-29 09:43:18 AM
So now we have to wait for Jenna or Barbara to get elected to finish the job. Like Bush43 finished off Saddam?
