I don't think he's seen his knees in his time at Kansas.

So, I guess you saw tonight's safety too, huh? It was without grass in the helmet but it was every bit as awesome.

I'm just glad I survived the whole mess.

We prevented KU from being bowl eligible and tonight may very well have been Mangino's last game coaching. M-I-Z!

Mangino is 50-48 in eight years - two wins shy of the school record for a coach.

52 wins is the record for a coach at Kansas? That's pathetic.

I really feel sorry for the morbidly obese. Please be gentle with the coach, Farkers.

Thank you.

Todd Haley and Herm Edwards thought that a QB draw out of your own endzone was a bad idea.

So, anybody wanna give an estimate on how much it costs KU to go through this process? they're probably gonna end up paying Mangino something unless one of their charges (the cause for firing) can be proven when it's disputed, and they're going to be paying a new coach a bit too. And Kansas is having budget problems too.

Sure, Perkins didn't hire Mangino, he just gave Mangino a huge contract that someone else is gonna eat.

A little sarcasm in this post?
I know who could eat it.

Rumor I heard on sports radio the other day is that Mangino's buyout is shockingly low, something in the range of $3-400k. Granted, they might end up giving him more just to avoid any nasty legal wrangling over it, but it doesn't seem like this is going to be a hangup for the University, budget cuts or no.

And yeah, I was just dumbfounded by that last KU "drive". Two passes and a QB draw from your own endzone. Horrible, inexcusable. The first pass I can almost see, you get single coverage and perhaps catch them napping, but even so, three runs there leaves Mizzou with no timeouts and perhaps a minute or less on the clock. Plus you're still up by 3. It completely changes Mizzou's play calling/strategy for that last drive. At the very least you have to make Mizzou burn their timeout. Mangino stole that win away from his seniors, I've never seen poorer coaching.

Remember, this is the team that gets beat up by its own basketball team. Give them their due.

After listening to some MU fans, I think many didn't watch the same game as everyone else. 2 fumbles and a few bad play calls allowed your inept team to win this game. Count yourself lucky because you guys sucked pretty bad tonight also. Reesing lit your secondaries up like a cheech & chong doobie all night. I'm not saying Ku should have won this game, because they played pretty crappy, I'm just saying this is not a clear cut victory for you all..

Slight issue with the article - thanks to there being 68 bowl spots and a maximum of like 60 teams over .500 (sorry, exact number not in front of me), that means crappy 6-6 teams like KU are, in fact, eligible.

I love how all the Misery fans come out of the closet one day a year. Mentat is the only guy on these boards supporting MU football every week when you're doing stuff like losing to Baylor.

You know what? KU's football program has been pretty irrelevant through the years. Only the most delusional fan would deny that. But any Tiger fan on here that has themselves convinced that somehow you've been some kind of traditional football powerhouse is being just as delusional, or just doesn't know crap about football.

How many BCS bowl games have you won? How many great NFL players have you produced (other than Kellen Winslow, of course)? Why have you only won 2 Big 8 titles, and 0 Big XII titles? Why haven't you dominated that "basketball school" to your west more on the gridiron?

I was at yesterday's game. I was proud with how my Jayhawks put up a damn good fight, given what a shiatty situation the program is in right now. We gave it a great shot, made a couple of coaching decisions that didn't pan out, and lost by 2. Enjoy your hard-fought victory, Tiger fans.

But don't pretend that yesterday was anything more than two evenly-matched mediocre/crap programs playing mediocre/crap football just like they pretty much always have.

Man the Hy-Vee's in Johnson Country must be running low on Preperation H right now considering the epidemic of butthurt that suddenly hit the OP and Lenexa crowd.

I can't really say where I work, but let me just say that customers from Johnson County are probably the whiniest bunch of entitled asshats I've ever had to deal with. This is standard behavior.

Eh, I dunno. I'm a Mizzou grad, and I love this rivalry as much as any alumn does. Both teams are relatively mediocre, but Saturday's game was a classic.

Mangino's other faults are, he's done fantastic with their football program. It's a shame he's going to be forced to leave, because he's the sole reason KU's football program has done well. A 50% win ratio in the Big 12 is nothing to be ashamed of-and an Orange Bowl appearance? Yeah. . . KU's gonna regret stirring up this controversy.

Here's hoping both Mizzou and KU can get their football programs back to a situation like 2007.

If Mizzou can do something about their defensive scheme, I think they'll be a serious contender in the North next year and maybe the Big XII. I'm really impressed with how Gabbert has conducted himself this year.
