Just about. A few years ago, they did a story with Charlie Weis and some bed-ridden kid (I can't remember the ailment), and Charlie allowed the kid to call the first offensive play the Irish would make during the season (some kind of passing play). In the first game, the Irish offense starts in a difficult position, they use the kid's play anyway, they get the first down, sweet story for that sap-story ESPN reporter to narrate.

Fowler said something like "all he wants is to see his Trojans win against the Bruins tonight" and then he grimaced when he realized what he'd said.

I felt certain, reading the headline and seeing it was an ESPN link, that I'd be directed to some human interest garbage by Rick Reilly. Stunningly, that isn't the case.

Oh well, the Reilly article will be up later in the week, I guess.

That was my point. Another excuse to hate USC for those that want to. Is it a good excuse? I don't think it matters.

It was a nice story. The USC players seem like nice guys. But, yes, Pete Carroll is an ass. He refused to shake hands with Chip Kelly after Oregon beat them. I've never seen a coach be that much of an ass before.

I was at the game last night. FUCLA deserved to lose after one of their players intentionally knocked down a ref after the final touchdown.

ESPN did a great job on this story and I have to say hats off to Pete and the Trojans, you have shown a great deal of class and have made a positive impact on the life of a young man.
