From TFA:

"It's the NFL Network," McDaniels told The Denver Post. "It doesn't surprise me."

I still don't get all the pearl-clutching that's going on around this. Who exactly doesn't think that a group of competitive 20 and 30 somethings tend to swear, and what color is the sky in their world?

What I don't understand is why the NFL Network broadcasts aren't on a delay in the first place. If you're going to put microphones near the coaches and players during a game, you're going to pick up the occasional swear.

The problem is that the cursing that got aired was not live. It was actually a replay of a tirade they'd just recorded. Apparently, they forgot to beep it.

Yeah, but it was awesome. McDaniels ain't afraid of some salty motherfarking language, motherfarker.

Why do people get so worked up over a swear word on cable TV? Especially during a football game, where it shouldn't be very surprising?

I was watching that game and when I heard the f-bomb slip through I laughed my ass off. Not because I think it's a funny word, but because I knew the network was instantly shiatting their pants over it and they would have to put together some sort of lame apology to keep the holy-rollin' moral police from lambasting them.

Such a big deal over a non-issue. They don't seem to mind Manning, very clearly, mouthing Fark Me after another sack.

Maybe Coughlin should be swearing at his Giants for losing five of their last six games. Considering three of their final games are against Philly, Dallas and Minnesota, the Giants could finish 8-8 and out of the playoffs.

Two main issues here:
-games televised on NFLN are -also- broadcast locally in the markets of the teams involved
-as mentioned before, it was a taped segment and still went through uneditted

I personally have no problem with it, just explaining.

We did see Devin Hester's bare ass last weekend on NBC when he got his pants pulled down on a tackle. The slow-mo replay was a nice touch. I swear Collinsworth was trying hard not to laugh.

He's done a better job than I thought he would, though I think he's trying a little too hard with the cut-off sleeves on his hoodie. I think it was either John Clayton or Mort who had a great point on ESPN about how the last three years McDaniels has gotten career seasons out of Tom Brady, Matt Cassel and now Kyle Orton. The guy can coach.

Your_Huckleberry: The guy can coach.

Yes, he can, but coaching by itself, doesn't win games. After a while, players get tired of hearing the same spiel, and wonder if the coach actually knows what the hell he's doing to win games.

I don't get what you're saying here. They actually are winning games, surely the players have noticed.
Don't forget that a few months ago we all thought Denver would be about 2-9 right now.

And around we go. Did McDaniels' swearing help them win the game? Does swearing during practice prepare players to win?

Sun God: And around we go. Did McDaniels' swearing help them win the game? Does swearing during practice prepare players to win?

Again, evidently.

After swearing shown on TV:

Denver defense goes on the field, forces a fumble.
Denver offense takes their first possession since the swearing, scores their first TD of the game after being stopped inside the 10 on each of their other drives.

Whether or not that was the reason, if that happened after I dropped a motherf*cker on TV, I'd be dropping a TON of motherf*ckers on TV.

And he is one of the most prepared coaches in the NFL, as his players have said. But that's ok, keep saying he sucks for taking a team that no one thought was any good and a QB that no one wanted and having them at 7-4 (would be 8-3 if Orton didn't get hurt in that Washington game).

I'll give him the credit he deserves, which is the same credit everyone gives him, which is something like, "This is a young, bold and skilled coach, and we'll be seeing a lot of him in the future."

As a Patriots fan, I love me some McDaniels... but that's not a completely accurate assessment of what happened. Tom Brady had a career year that year because he finally had real receivers (Moss and Welker.) Now that he's really back from his knee injury, he's playing about the same. That was the only season Cassel played behind a real offensive line (as opposed to a bunch of cardboard cutouts of KC players.) Kyle Orton, much like 07 Brady, is suddenly playing with a much better offense.

I still agree that McDaniels is a good coach, but if he were to have to move to Oakland next year because it was the only place his kid could get medical care or something, don't hold your breath on Russel or Gradkowski.
