Hanscom?

Babwa Wawa: Hanscom?

Beat me to showing Submitter's img1.fark.net.

Besides Hanscom AFB in the Boston area, here's the other USAF installations.

Barnes ANGB, MA
Bardley ANGB, CT
Burlington IAP, VT (almost got an assignment there once)
Otis ANGB, MA
Pease ANGB, NH
Quonset ANGS, RI
Westover ARB, MA

Here's the list^ of AF installation with their assigned units as well.

/Somebody else can find the other services' New England installations.

The Russkies know better than to get bogged down in a winter campaign in New England.

Just let 'em try, it'll be Bunker Hill II, Electric Boogaloo,

AirForceVet: Beat me to showing Submitter's img1.fark.net.

To be fair, it's the article's fail.

GAT_00: To be fair, it's the article's fail.

FTA: The two last planes at Maine's Brunswick Naval Air Station have lifted off in blustery winds, ending nearly 60 years of maritime patrol operations at New England's last active-duty military air base.

Point taken. Most of the installations I listed are Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve. However, active duty personnel are often assigned to ANG & AFR units to keep them current with USAF processes and provide continuity.

I withdraw my previous FAIL comment. Sorry, Submitter.

Oh, sure, you say that now.

Remember how grueling the boiling oil attack in Braveheart was?

Imagine that, but with boiling hot cauldrons of New England Clam Chowder (TM). Helpless, my ass.

That's okay subby. I liked the headline.

I'm going to have to stew over this for a few. Excuse me.

The 3,200-acre base will be turned over to a redevelopment group.

The redevelopment projects in Massachusetts have been total fail. The South Weymouth NAS project, the part of it that will be built, will lack useful road access and will be yet another suburban traffic jam. Adjacent towns are bickering over what to do with Devens. Otis is contaminated and the military won't give it up anyway.

NECC (TM) comes in cans. Real chowdah doesn't. No one wants a frozen can of NECC (TM) hurled at them while they try to climb a ladder.

They should never have closed Griffis AFB (Rome, NY). All my little friends had to move away because their parents were in the military and got relocated.

/don't miss the huge planes buzzing the roof at all hours though
//or the nukes stored 2 miles away

The people of New England have chosen diplomacy over sabre rattling. Perhaps the rest of the country could learn something from this...

/...perhaps.

I believe they closed the AFB in Willow Grove, PA (Yes I know, not New England) ... but I still see A-10's taking off and landing at it. Sooo... I don't know.

You can never have too much military, just look at the USSR. Oh wait.

AngryDragon

No, it can't be like that. It has to be "smart growth" which means you drop a Wal-Mart or something in place of one of the swimming pools. With a store within walking distance the residents all sell their cars.
