I honestly don't get it either. I'm a Michigander and I really don't care if we move these guys from Gitmo to Michigan. In fact I'd welcome it. OK, but you need a rickety railcar system to haul out the debitage and rocks, so that whenever some hero needs to access the depths of the mine he can ride the tracks in some car with no brakes; and a lot of rusty pickaxes with broken handles and cases of old sweaty dynamite for random explosions(they're always there someplace).

And wherever we site your mine, there needs to be running water, because those prison tunnel mines are always muddy; and also in case we need to flood the mine occasionally to drown either villains or excess prisoners (like in "View to a Kill") it can be done expediently.
