These were my lines of reasoning as well. Surely the cops on the scene knew better. Why in the hell did it take an Ambulance 10 minutes to get to the scene of one of the most exclusive neighborhoods in America? Definitely some covering up going on here. Woods got hit by his wife or at the very least, got into a doozy of a fight. He decides to leave peacefully. As he's leaving the house, Elin cracks the window with the club, scaring the ever living shiat out of Tiger, causing him to lose control and hit the hydrant and the tree.

I've had a window taken out on me (driver's side by a flat bed truck who didn't secure all their straps) and it scared the living HELL out of me, and I almost lost control. I could see what could happen if you're not expecting it.

Something strange happened here.

No matter how big the mansion, woman crazy is bigger. Here's how things went down:

1. She scratched him up during an argument so he knew he had to get out of there.
2. She was still in crazy mode and started attacking the SUV with a golf club as he tried to drive away.
3. Tiger was thinking "WTF is she doing??", got distracted, rolled over a fire hydrant and into a tree.
4. Neighbors hear the ruckus and call 911.
5. Tiger is now very disoriented and stumbles out of the SUV and onto the ground.
6. She goes to check on him as the police arrive and she then puts on the whole act of trying to help him.
