Jesus is a mythological creation. Saul of Tarsus, inspired by various other ancient myths, made him up and never intended Jesus to be regarded as a real person, but instead as the protagonist in his parables and examples of the lessons Saul/Paul wanted to teach. There's not one shred of non-Biblical evidence of the existence of Jesus, so whether or not he had short hair is sort of a moot point-- He never existed, so the storytellers can say he looked like Richard Simmons if they want; It makes no difference.

It boggles me that people think Jesus was an actual historical figure when there's not one reference or reference to him outside of the Bible. There's no archaeological evidence of his existence. There are no personal references by anyone who lived at the same time as he was supposed to. There are no remnants of his existence whatsoever, and furthermore, his personal story in the Bible is so full of holes (like his youth until his 30s) and contradictions that it's more than obvious he's a complete fabrication. It's no coincidence that his tale is so similar to so many other demigod/avatar stories.

So if Christians, who are already so full of shiat that it's impossible to tell where the truth ends and the fantasy begins, want to think of Jesus as being a long-haired, white-skinned, bearded hippie who said rich men were barred from Heaven but really meant that money buys you a good seat next to God, I say let them. It's no crazier than anything else they believe.
