That was funny, hearing it live. How did anyone not catch that, especially a taped segment?

does the NFL network care if 1 swear word is heard? I mean, they're a paid channel right?

It was simulcast on Fox here in Denver.

It's really sort of weird all the hubbub about it. You stick a mic down on a sideline during a tight football game, what exactly do you expect?

Someone even ask McDaniels about it in the post-game. I'd be like "you only caught one f-bomb? Must have been 50 that you missed."

ohhhh, that is not what the NFL Network needs.

Belichick: What?
McDaniels: I SAID: We're going to use the triple hitch Z Y Fly pattern on the cross double read X out.
Belichick:: Ummm....What?
McDaniels: Say "What" again. I dare ya, I double dare ya, motherfarker, say 'What' one more got-damn time!

We cracked up when we realized it wasn't live.

Best part was that we heard it on a replay. So one heard it but didn't act on it, so we all heard it coming out of a break.

Hoe do you miss it twice?

skinink 2009-11-27 06:55:29 AM
It worked nicely since they beat the Giants. It's going to be wierd to see the Giants possibly miss the playoffs.

Well they muted the sound right after the first motherfarker. It really sounds like there were a few more farks in there to me, honestly.

Indeed. Immediately following the yelling, the defense forced a turnover and the offense scored their first TD of the day after settling for FGs all the other times.

Hey NFL, We tuned in to see scantily clad cheerleaders and overly muscled men beating the hell out of each other as drunken fans party in the stadium. It totally destroys the family values of the game if we have to hear a naughty word!

Matt Millen line-of-the-week (actually had to back this one up to make sure i heard it correctly):

The Broncos defensive lineman are standing around at the line of scrimmage. It creates a problem because you don't know who's
going to come. It's kind of an... amoeba.

Yeah, he was really better at beating up members of the Sullivan family than anything else he's ever done.

They were on WPIX here in NY, which is the CW affiliate. Cablevision and Time Warner don't have NFLN on their basic plan, and if you deprive us of a Giants game there will be consequences, so it had to be.

What a piece of shiat game though. We got killed. Absolutely killed.

Have to say though, while NFLN had their issues, I thought they did a pretty solid job. They broke down some plays a little bit more in-depth than I'm used to.

It actually had to be because league broadcast rules REQUIRE the local team to be shown on broadcast TV. It's the same reason a Giants/Jets game on MNF (ESPN) will also be shown on one of the local channels.

Are you sure that is true? I seem to remember Congress getting involved when the Patriots-Giants game was scheduled for the NFL Network a few years ago, asking the league to allow the game to be broadcast. I think the league does this voluntarily, not due to obligation. Not sure, though.

The situation there was over the national broadcast rights because the Patriots were going for a perfect season. It was always going to be on locally in the New York/New England markets, and the league ended up agreeing to simulcast the game nationally on both CBS and NBC.

My understanding of it is that all of a team's away games have to be broadcast on "free" TV, and part of the contract with ABC/ESPN requires the same for MNF games. As far as the home team is concerned, standard blackout rules apply for them being aired by a local station. Since NFL Network doesn't have a contract with the league per se (being a wholly owned entity of the NFL), there is no requirement for them to allow alternative broadcasting for the cities of the teams that are playing. The league knew that the Pats/Giants game was a potential cash cow, especially with them feuding with not only TimeWarner and Cablevision, but also Comcast at that time, and didn't want to give up the revenue, but eventually acquiesced in order to keep the fans on their side of the fight. Now the NFL Network is following the parameters of the MNF contract for the games that they are airing and having Rich Eisen take shots at the cable providers that aren't playing their game (like he did last night).

Does the NFL have a team constantly scouring the internet for copyright violations? Can a 7 second clip be considered fair use? (I assume these are the same clowns who have banner the word "super bowl", I mean "big game" -- shiat, now Drew's gonna get sued)

Yeah both NY and NE's local markets would have gotten the game, but after congress' threats it became a bonus nationally televised game. It was a pretty good game as far as they go, and really lit a fire under the Giants.

THIS. What a bizarre country this is: movies like the Saw franchise make hundreds of millions of dollars, the whole CSI franchise is murder porn and yet one "fark" or a 2 second glance at a nipple causes hysteria and outrage.
