I have two issues with this. 1) One day they'll realize mum was made by chinese slave labour and 2) what exactly happened to the real mother anyway?

and C) they're much better roasted with rosemary than bar-be-qued.

Q: What do you tell meerkats with two black eyes?
A: Nothin. You already told the biatches twice!

I'm impressed that they got the meerkats to hold still long enough to take that picture.

Kif_D is right on target with that one. I immediately thought of the monkey experiments where they were given a choice of surrogate objects. The results suggested that "warm" and "fuzzy" were important characteristics.

It doesn't even matter too much if the thing is alive. What the babies need is a "base" to feel secure and from which to explore the world. Monkeys that grew up without such a surrogate parent became extremely antisocial, violent, and males sometimes attacked and killed females instead of taking them as mates. Females would kill their own babies. Basically, they were psychopaths.

That is one of the most adoreable things i have ever seen.

I wonder what happened to the mom and are the babies in a zoo or a pet store or what?

"Please don't take our lead-paint-coated mother away from us, mister!"

Meerkats are among the cutest little bastards in the animal kingdom.

Meerkat Mounds is one of my favorite exhibits at the Ft Worth Zoo. My ex-gf used to have to drag me away from them, otherwise, I would spend the entire day watching and photographing them.

Now I'll be looking for them, too.
