I was just about to page you... We need a Gary the gray update, stat!

My black and white kitty, also a rescue, was the sweetest boy in the world. Even non-cat people liked him because he acted like a dog. Glad to see that Icee is doing well. He should have no problem finding a loving home.

FOR THOSE OF YOU THAT HAVE BEEN LURKING AND NOT POSTING:
take the plunge! post some "blanks" of YOUR kitty and see how fun it is to see your kitty in lights and your family's kitty might get a fun or silly caption of his or her very own! a detailed "how to post pics on Caturday and on fark in general for dummies" page can be found here (new window). once you get the hang of it, posting pics is very easy, but it can seem daunting if you haven't ever done it before. take a look at that web page and it will make sense. there's even a bonus section that shows how easy it is to caption your own pics.

FOR THOSE WHO HAVE A NEW KITTY THAT NEEDS A NAME:
introduce your new charge(s)! perhaps we can have a naming "contest". post a pic of your kitty and let everyone make suggestions. some of the ones Caturday comes up with are hilarious and often very appropriate. my guy, "LittleOne", recently got his new long name "Jester Lord Fluffy Bottom" (partly mine and partly another lovely farker's - take credit you-know-who!).

FOR THOSE WHO HAVE A KITTY WHO IS UNDER THE WEATHER:
please post details and pose questions. Caturday is a lovely place to get help as well as have fun. many of us, having had lots of kitties and having taking care of their lovely and many, many lives and, unfortunately, injuries and illnesses, have become "kitty health resources". post the issues and we'll all see if we can help, and for myself, please feel free to email me (my address can be found in "how to post pics on Caturday and on fark in general for dummies" (new window) or in my profile).

FOR THOSE WHO HAVE LOST A KITTY TO THE RAINBOW BRIDGE:
for those who have recently lost a kitty, please do let us know. please show us your pics, tell us the story. sharing helps. a wise person once told me "a joy shared is twice a joy, a pain shared is half a pain". tell us of the lovely times of days past when kitty was around. tell us of your heartbreak at losing kitty. it's safe around here; no one will judge. most all of us have been there and will sympathize.

Well, we left our 10 month old Frenzy back home with a close friend when we moved here, so no cat pics to share. Frenzy really was the coolest cat, and he's completely ruined the family that adopted him for us. He owns their place. Awesome.

In related news, our 1 year old yellow Lab has a new stuffed toy duck! He's very, very proud of it and will let you chew on it, you know, if you want to.

Gary update: when the thread went dark on Sunday night, i was going to go over to the other place to see if he was stuck in that house. early the next day, i met with "the guy", the new owner. there was no cat at all inside the building, no clue what i heard that i thought was Gary. not surprised though... so much noise around there and difficult to hear through walls. there was no cat at all stuck in there and no way for him or any kitty to have gotten in or out without human assistance. the entire inside of the building is gutted in the process of a full remodel and so there is NO PLACE for a kitty to be stuck in there anywhere.

i have placed a lost pet add in both the local newspapers.

i have now been to the shelter and also talked with the animal control officers. he was not at the shelter, has not been adopted out (they have only had one grey cat in in the last many weeks and she, a long hair, is still there), and the officers have not picked up any kitties anywhere near my area let alone any grey ones, and they have not seen any deceased ones either. both the officers looked at his color pics and they have definitely not seen him around let alone felt like they needed to catch him.

i have placed many flyers up and am working on putting more up.

on a more positive note, when i visited the old house on Mon, i got a chance to chat with another of my old neighbors there. she is a good friend and i just hadn't bumped into her since i was looking for Gary. when i described why i was there (to look in the old house), she asked about Gary. we have talked often in the past about kitties, but hadn't discussed Gary before. she had amusing things to say about him. she says that he looks VERY similar to her kitty Jack. she says that she sees Gary often and knows this because she has on several occasions called to Gary thinking that he was Jack and that he should come inside. then Gary, being the somewhat skittish guy he is, runs off. she has then turned around, somewhat annoyed that her cat took off when called rather than respond, only to find that, no, her kitty was in the house after all. we chuckled about that and i went off and emailed her the color pics that i have for her to identify him with. she claimed to recognize them immediately and said "yep, that's him". she says that she last saw him and did the "mistake for Jack" bit two days before that or last Saturday. she now has me on speed-dial and is looking out for him.

will be giving a flyer to both the trash guys and the mail carriers tomorrow.

MM created a TFD where some of us were chatting about all this for a little while this week. QJ created some hilarious "postcards" which he posted there and i sure hope he will also post here. :-)


so, still no Gary, but no BAD news and some suggestions of good news. the floor is now open to questions and/or further suggestions.

our Harry Potter (our chocolate coloured kitty) approves. He would comment, but as you can see, he is being too lazy and spoiled to utter a word!
