Gonna have to side with the ref on this one.

I just last week, during one of those behind-the-scenes interviews, saw a video of another player going to give the ref high five when the ref was making the same signal, except the player there brought it back quickly and realized he was an idiot. Can't remember who and the googles, they do nothing, but I saw it.

Oh for Christ's sake. He was raising his arm to signal the end of the down. Vince Young threw a high five and the ref took it. No f*cking controversy, no f*cking issue.

This would be more interesting if it had happened in a game between two good teams.

Even if the Ref did willingly and intentionally give VY a high five... what wrong with an official being happy that a player is succeeding after overcoming some pretty bad stuff.

It doesn't mean that he was altering the game for it.

people will biatch and overreact to everything

AT least he wasnt sticking money into the refs pocket, like the NBA.

I'm a soccer referee and I give coaches (really awesome coaches of course, which are very few nowadays) high-fives and handshakes after the game all the time.

CHEATER!

/honestly, I can't even fathom why people would be getting head-punchy over a high-five.
//It's not like Vince tapped his nose and then the ref nodded and tugged his ear.
///People will get worked up over anything these days...

"ZOMG WAS THE REF GIVING VINCE YOUNG A HIGH FIVE?! IS THE A NEW GAMBLING RIGGING SCANDAL!!!! ...according to the NFL's official statement and clear-as-farking-day video, no."

It's not news, it's the New York Post.

Dear NFL,

Please lighten up already. If you feel the need to investigate areas of concern and then offer explanations, then please focus your attention on concussion research, medical coverage for vets, i.e. things that matter. Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,

Your Fanbase (co-signed Ocho Cinco)

VY deserves a high five. He keeps this up and he'll remove the bust label for good.

I fail to see the issue here, regardless of whether or not the ref did it intentionally. I've played sports for a good chunk of my life, and very rarely have I not shaken a referee's hand or thanked an official at the end of the game. Aside from the fact that this was a high-five rather than a handshake, how does this differ? The game was over, and I don't think there's anything wrong with showing gratitude towards the officials for a job well done. It's not like he did it in the middle of the game...that would be a different matter.

I'm in shock that Goddell didn't fine the shiat out of Young and the Titans.

Tennessee Titans QB Vince Young NFL referee caught giving NFL referee Tennessee Titans QB Vince Young a high five at conclusion of game while the ref's hand was up during a call.

FTFY.

not like the NBA, where the players show affection for the refs right in the middle of the game:

I remember seeing that during the game and laughing. It didn't seem like a big deal.

ArmyWarVet 2009-11-27 11:36:55 AM
If there was any kind of favoritism being shown towards VY or Tennessee by the officials in that game how come they didn't throw any flags when VY was blatenly tripped in the fourth quarter? It was a high five, big friggen deal. I'm surprized the same whargarblers are not shiating themselves when players/coaches on opposing teams shake hands and talk before and after the game.
