Simon Pegg and Nick Frost playing Inspectors Thompson and Thomson. Awesome.

Tintin? I think the best way to do that movie would be 2D in the very detailed comic book tone that the original has, myself - like the illustrations moving.

I liked the books, the very datedness of them is part of their odd charm.

That's easy. Tin-tin is Rin's last name.

I love the Tintin books to death, but I still am unsure that it could ever possibly make a decent live-action movie.

I remember reading Tin-Tin in a children's magazine, about the size of a Reader's Digest, but I can't for the life of me remember the title. But I remember absolutely loving the stories!

/Gonna have to get hold of some of the books--it's been a LONG time...

KatjaMouse [TotalFark] 2009-11-25 02:17:20 PM
I only got into Tin-Tin for the Fox Terrier.

Ahh yes. Back when this was the breed en vogue and had all kinds of comic and bad-assery linked to it. In movies anyway.

/Go Asta!

KatjaMouse [TotalFark] 2009-11-25 02:18:08 PM
Asta was The Thin Man, not Tin Tin, I know. I know my movie dogs.

caperbear 2009-11-25 02:29:52 PM
Tin-tin? Why, he's an unattached, soft-spoken, intellectual, globe-trotting young man who owns a small terrier lapdog named Snowy, and spends much of his time in the company of an unattached globe-trotting, gruff-speaking older sea captain.

There's absolutely nothing gay about this!

Wait? Who said he was gay? I didn't say he was gay. Stop judging him!

Peter:

Dude. Seriously. You are to do nothing until a colossally ass-kicking Blu-Ray collection of "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy with remixes, remasters, and animated menus is available. No more Kong. No more producing South African killer shrimp movies. Nothing.

I have spoken.

Could be why they're not doing that. It's all CG, they've been filming for motion-capture.

In other article relevent news, I think it is a mistake to give The Hobbit to del Toro. He is good, but he only has one style and I'd really rather not have The Hobbit turned into Hellboy 3.

In another 10 years people will think of him in the same way they think of Tim Burton or M. Night Shamalamadingdong, or whatever his name is.

Maybe I'm a bit of a fag for bringing it up, but Tin-Tin? Tin Tin?
Dude, his name is one word.

I hope they do a good job of it, but the cartoon was always a great version of the books as it was.

Hadn't heard that. Interesting...CG could be decent (or terrible), depending on the style. I'll reserve judgement.

TFA: As for The Hobbit, we previously mentioned that the first script was completed, but Jackson spilled more info to the BBC. He mentioned that he was scouting locations in New Zealand prior to arriving in London, and that there would be continuity between his film's and Guillermo Del Toro's Hobbit:

so they're making "Hobbit" and "The Hobbit"?
I heard about there being two movies but at least come up with decent names

Pegg and Frost are quite possibly going to steal every scene they are in, and I will be in the theater to witness it. I liked the TV series, and saw some of the comics. I just hope the rest of the cast is as verbally expressive as Pegg and Frost can be so that the characters come through.

/Tintin is awesome
