Suicide is no easy thing, at least not for most. One thing movies usually get right is the hours of internal struggle a truly suicidal person has. You always hear about the "nothing to lose" people who commit suicide, but in reality, most people who go all the way in fact have a lot to lose, they just can't handle it. People who truly have nothing to lose are beyond suicide, they're much more dangerous, but thankfully that type of thing is rare.

Luckily, few people actually succeed on their first attempt. Mock failed suicides all you will, but sometimes getting that far along and then failing at suicide can change a persons life for the better. There are older statistics stating that only 1 million people succeed globally per year (that figure has to be way off), yet there are up to 20 million attempteds. Let's hope that figure stays that way, as depressing as it is.
