Look at the main tab yesterday to see the article where Drew announced a USA Today Sponsorship of the Geek tab. As if the Yardbarker crap previously on the sports tab wasn't bad enough...

Ah, Pascal Leclaire, possibly the only guy in hockey who might look better after taking a puck to the face:

Visiting Teams Goalies in San Jose now thankful for their "inconvenient" location

If only there were some type of protection he could be wearing to prevent such injuries...

Ya know, most goalies catch those with those convenient glove things and laugh it off.

That should teach him not to nap.

\Seriously, that sucks for the sens.
\\But I'm a canes fan, can't feel too sorry.

Contact Music is the current autogreen in Showbiz, for all your two paragraph rumor mill needs.

Someone up there hates that guy. He gets injured all the time, and occasionally in some weird ways.

And the last time, his injury opened the door for Mason to steal his job.

Hope Elliott is up to the task.

After hearing of this, I wonder if goaltenders are at a disadvantage while sitting on the bench. Most hockey players, and people in general, have become accustomed to dodging when they sense something hurtling at their face. Perhaps the years of training to turn that dodge reflex into a block/stop reflex hurts them when they're in the 'game' mindset, but not fully protected as they are when in goal.

Also, bench-warming goalies are less likely to be paying complete attention to the play, especially when their team is rushing up ice, since it's not really a primary concern of theirs.

Here's hoping Brian Elliott can return to his late-season from of last year.

Interesting theory, but I'm inclined to think it's because he wasn't watching the play and shooting the breeze with an equipment guy.

I coach, and I don't look at players when I'm talking to them, because I'm watching the play. One purpose is to know what's going on, but the other is most definitely not wanting a stray puck upside the noggin.

And now Fisher is hurt too. Fark. Don't know how serious, but we've called up Keller.

As a Leafs fan I have to state my objection to this comment. My objection is that I wish I'd thought of it earlier. Well done.

Goaltending in Ottawa has always been a question mark. We can't seem to find a number 1 goalie that can stay healthy and/or not let softy shots get past them for goals.

Leclaire seems to be a combination of both.

Maybe Brodeur will be the next Steve Mason??!?

That's documented... he admitted that he wasn't paying attention to the game because he was 'chit-chatting' with the equipment guys.

/too lazy to google the article, but it is likely an article on slam.ca

Is anyone watching San Jose/Chicago right now? 3 short-handed goals by the Blackhawks. Sick. Just sick.

Since you posted this in a Sens thread (which also equates to a leaf bashing thread), anytime SJ looses is good news. Heatley is a career cry baby. San Jose fans want playoff results and Heatley is not the answer. He's more interested in playing for team Canada at the World Championships.

San Jose seems to be a lock for the playoffs, but will be gone in the first round....

Many people said the same of Detroit a few years back writing them off as a paper tiger. This mainly due to their weaker division and their regular season success not reflecting in the post. San Jose has shown the same signs of a strong regular season but limited playoff success. Despite this the few years of being a dominant team in the NHL should be a pleasing thought to any sharks fans and we shouldn't write them off as first round knock outs. Granted the end game of any nhl squad should be to win a stanley cup

Also Ottawa treats their players like garbage. Granted every major city will give some bad press about choice players but it got to the point where picking up an ottawa newspaper or listening to the 1200 was more irritating than it was worth. Truth be told though if anyone should have demanded a trade it should have been Spezza who has and continues to be the scapegoat for Ottawa now that Redden has left.
