So sad how Ratner has destroyed that team just so he can make a fortune taking private property in Brooklyn for a new arena that will anchor new development paid for with a ton of tax breaks.

Yep, MLB needs a salary cap JUST like the NBA. The NBA is the worst of all the professional leagues.

Yes, it does seem like ESPNY has at least one story a week on why LbBron is going to the Nets or Knicks. He may indeed leave the Cavs, but his goal is to win championships, so, nuh-uh.

The NBA is the worst because they hand out $20mill/yr guarenteed contracts. Salary cap is irrelevant. MLB needs a salary cap JUST like the NFL.

Cap all you want. The Marlins ownership and that of other shiatty teams will still spend $30 mil on payroll, and pocket all the rest, just like they do with the revenue sharing money right now.

Baseball has has a larger number of different teams to win a championship in the past 15 years than the NFL, NBA, or NHL.

Don't blame us because the Orioles don't know how to run a baseball franchise.

QFT.

If you cap the salaries, you also have to have minimum spending rules.

As a Cubs fan, I can tell you that spending doesn't make the difference. Spending wisely makes the difference.

New york fan against a salary cap in baseball? Unpossible!

Angelos destruction of the O's is completely independent of baseball's dire need for a salary cap. Thanks for upping the hits on my profile.

This is from The Onion, apparently they sometimes print a non-parody article

Nets Announce Team Is In Re-Demolition Mode
EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ-In a continuing effort to destroy their roster and ultimately cause their team's collapse, Nets officials announced Monday that the franchise was entrenched in a long-term re-demolition process. "Obviously, we're not going to just fall apart overnight, but our 0-10 start is proof that we're imploding in the right direction," said general manager Kiki Vandeweghe. "We've been working for years to demolish the core of the Nets roster by getting rid of Jason Kidd, Richard Jefferson, and Vince Carter. And with the acquisition of Yi Jianlian from China, a player who is sure to be a bust, this organization has begun to really focus on tearing itself down from the ground up." Vandeweghe said he is following the re-demolition model established by the New York Knicks and praised the ongoing team-destruction efforts of owner Jim Dolan, who he said is "doing a great job over there."

Don't worry, Nets, you'll play my Kings on Friday and have a chance.

LeBron with D'Antoni and whatever the knicks will build in free agency will give him a better title shot than the farking Cavs and Brown.

People like LeBron can win titles almost anywhere. The cavs are not a good team minus lebron. LeBron IS the team. Even the current knicks would be a playoff lock if you just dropped LeBron onto the team.

Same is true for the current Nets.

Bill Frist [TotalFark] 2009-11-25 02:35:49 PM
By that same token, that's exactly why LeBron will either stay in Cleveland or go to NY. NY offers a lot of non-championship benefits (do I really lead to list them?) and LeBrons champinoship chances would be just as good or better there.

Why would he leave the Cavs just to go to some other lame city where his championship chances wouldn't increase? Dude is not taking a pay cut to join Kobe and the Lakers or whatever.

I think LeBros has built himself quite a media emapire already from his home in the metropolis of Bath, Ohio. & not that I'd want to see it, but I think that even minus LBJ, the Cavs still could beat the Knicks & or Nets...I mean, they're on a Browns-like level of suck right now.

I'm sorry that last bit was harsh.

NFL and NHL both have minimums and while MLB has had more champions the playoff picture is almost identical each year, plus the Cinderella stories usually tank the next season.

For those interested, the Nets lost to Portland tonight, so they're now 0 and 15.
