In answer to the question, Hollywood is like the music industry. If you make somebody 100 million 3 times out of ten you're good. 5 out of 10 you're a star. I was on the elevator and when the doors opened a woman who was waiting for it started walking backwards into the car because she was still talking to the receptionist. There's a shortage of actresses that can effectively pull off the role of a strong female lead. Bullock doesn't quite blend in with the rest of the waifs and bimbos.

Not saying she's perfect, but she's got something going for her.
