Give it a minute. It was up, now is down again. You can check the individual team rankings and they're new.

Redskins are still the same as last week, and I doubt they went up 2 losing to the Cowboys. The Texans lost to the Titans at home and didn't lose any rankings? Seems like this is still last week's.

Steelers 6-3-0 They will take out last Sunday's frustrations on the Chiefs this weekend.

RK (LW) TEAM REC COMMENT
1 (1) Saints 10-0-0 The Saints are averaging 36.9 points per game, more than the Raiders (10.8), Rams (11.3) and Browns (11.5) combined. (Sando)
2 (2) Colts 10-0-0 Even when the Colts don't play particularly well, opponents haven't seized opportunities. (Kuharsky)
3 (3) Vikings 9-1-0 Brett Favre appears to be the front-runner for MVP. (Chadiha)
4 (5) Patriots 7-3-0 Bill Belichick gets a chance to play spoiler on Monday as his Patriots try to end the Saints' bid for a perfect season. (Clayton)
5 (7) Cardinals 7-3-0 Getting Kurt Warner healthy has to be the top priority, particularly now that Arizona has a three-game lead in the division. (Sando)
6 (8) Chargers 7-3-0 Better to struggle early and settle in late than vice versa. (Kuharsky)
7 (4) Bengals 7-3-0 A loss in Oakland? Nobody saw that one coming. (Chadiha)
8 (10) Cowboys 7-3-0 Despite major problems on third down against the Redskins, the Cowboys did enough to win and keep their division lead. (Clayton)
9 (6) Steelers 6-4-0 Their loss to Kansas City proves the Steelers often play down to the competition. (Chadiha)
10 (12) Eagles 6-4-0 Finally, Donovan McNabb wins a close game. Maybe he's not the second-worst closer in Philadelphia sports. (Clayton)
11 (16) Giants 6-4-0 The bye week gave the Giants a chance to refocus and end their four-game losing streak by beating the Falcons. (Clayton)
12 (15) Packers 6-4-0 Aaron Rodgers is having a Pro Bowl year. (Chadiha)
13 (9) Broncos 6-4-0 Remember when things were going very well early and all the doubters said how things would turn? (Kuharsky)
14 (17) Jaguars 6-4-0 Their last trip west was a disaster (41-0 loss at Seattle), so we'll see if the Jags have discovered road legs when visiting the 49ers. (Kuharsky)
15 (11) Ravens 5-5-0 Three of the Ravens' five losses were by three points or less. Now comes Pittsburgh. (Chadiha)
16 (14) Falcons 5-5-0 There were positives for Matt Ryan and the Falcons despite their excruciating loss to the Giants. (Sando)
17 (18) Dolphins 5-5-0 Recent losses of Jason Ferguson and Ronnie Brown to injury won't help the Dolphins' late playoff run. (Clayton)
18 (13) Texans 5-5-0 Now mired in third place in the AFC South, the Texans are becoming masters at finding ways to lose. (Kuharsky)
19 (22) Titans 4-6-0 Vince Young increasingly appears to be an answer, not a question. (Kuharsky)
20 (19) 49ers 4-6-0 Alex Smith has shown he can throw touchdown passes when his team is trailing by a wide margin. He needs to start faster. (Sando)
21 (20) Panthers 4-6-0 They are averaging 200 yards rushing per game over their past six, but it's 2009 and this is a passing league. (Sando)
22 (21) Jets 4-6-0 Rex Ryan, a defensive master, is turning his attention to the offense to reduce Mark Sanchez's interceptions. (Clayton)
23 (23) Bears 4-6-0 The Bears have dropped five of their past six games. (Chadiha)
24 (24) Redskins 3-7-0 One more running back injury and Dan Snyder might have to sign John Riggins to play running back. (Clayton)
25 (25) Seahawks 3-7-0 Stepping down in competition from the Vikings to the banged-up Rams should help the Seahawks stop the bleeding temporarily. (Sando)
26 (27) Chiefs 3-7-0 They hope to look back at the win over the Steelers as a catalyst. (Kuharsky)
27 (26) Bills 3-7-0 Unemployed head coaches with Super Bowl rings can cash in for $10 million a year in Buffalo. (Clayton)
28 (28) Raiders 3-7-0 Is the Bruce Gradkowski era officially under way? (Kuharsky)
29 (31) Lions 2-8-0 Matt Stafford must wish he could play Cleveland every week. (Chadiha)
30 (29) Buccaneers 1-9-0 Firing the defensive coordinator with six games remaining isn't going to fix the Bucs' talent problems. (Sando)
31 (30) Rams 1-9-0 Marc Bulger's injury situation ramps up talk in St. Louis about the need to find the next franchise quarterback. (Sando)
32 (32) Browns 1-9-0 The loss at Detroit marked another defeat, but the Browns' offense at least showed a pulse. (Chadiha)

2009 NFL Power Rankings: Week 11
Week:
[+] Add Widget
ESPN.com

Sunday, the No. 32 Cleveland Browns visit the No. 31 Detroit Lions in a game that will test a Ford Field football fan's fortitude. Watching the worst teams in ESPN.com's Week 11 NFL Power Rankings, fans might use their paper bags for more than headgear.

On the other hand, the Power Rankings' penthouse is crowded. The poll of our experts split on a No. 1, so tabulator Mike Sando awarded the incumbent New Orleans Saints the berth over their fellow unbeatens the Indianapolis Colts. Sando explains the reasons here.

The Minnesota Vikings and Cincinnati Bengals retain spots Nos. 3 and 4, respectively. Despite losing in a controversial fashion to the Colts in Week 10, the New England Patriots swapped their No. 6 position with the previously No. 5-rated Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Saints, who struggled at the one-win St. Louis Rams in Week 10, have a similar test in the No. 29 Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Baltimore Ravens, No. 11 in our poll, are always tough hosts and promise to be most unaccommodating when the Colts return -- for a day -- to the Charm City.

Seriously, it takes a special soul to order teams by won-lost record, breaking ties by what may as well be a random draw.

Di Atribe: I'm really starting to enjoy the Titans' line. It's the most erratic of them all:

I still can't believe they started so high. The Giants' line is just as fun and more visible. Also rollercoaster lines for the Chargers and Cardinals.

===

This week's Rational Rankings:

Top-to-bottom (0-100 scale)
1-8: Colts 88.6, Saints 83.4, Patriots 78.7, Vikings 73.8, Bengals 67.1, Cowboys 65.5, Giants 63.776, Steelers 63.767
9-16: Ravens 63.2, Chargers 62.4, Cardinals 62.1, Eagles 61.8, Packers 61.0, Broncos 59.8, Jets 56.3, Falcons 54.2
17-24: Dolphins 52.6, Texans 51.4, 49ers 44.8, Panthers 44.2, Jaguars 43.0, Bears 42.8, Titans 38.4, Seahawks 37.8
25-32: Redskins 35.4, Bills 26.4, Chiefs 25.1, Raiders 23.0, Buccaneers 18.1, Lions 17.8, Rams 16.6, Browns 8.7

The Chargers and Broncos practically flip places. The Giants' lead on the Steelers is so small that if they had gained two fewer yards on offense this past week, they would be behind Pittsburgh. In defense of the Jets' #1 defense (below) after getting smoked by the Patriots, 31 points against NE is not that bad (their average is 29). Lions fall below the Bucs because allowing 37 points to a team that had scored barely twice that through nine games devastates their already-poor defense ranking. If the Lions don't convert from the 1-yard-line, they fall into last place.

Largest leaps: Chargers +7, Giants +4. Vikings gain 7.74 points and two ranks. Chiefs and Raiders each gain more than 7 points but don't move up any spots.
Furthest falls: Broncos -6, Steelers -3, Jets -3. Bengals lose 8.58 points but only one rank. Broncos have fallen from 4th to 14th in two weeks.

The following sub-ratings are on a 0-30 scale.
Top offenses: Saints 29.8, Patriots 25.4, Vikings 22.6
Bottom offenses: Raiders 0.0, Browns 1.9, Bills 3.8, Rams 3.9, Redskins 4.2

Top defenses: Jets 27.7, Colts 26.9, Patriots 26.4
Bottom defenses: Lions 1.2, Browns 4.8, Chiefs 6.5

A brief summary of How It Works is in my profile. Full details on the calculations and full rankings are at my Just Predictions webpage.

Well when your team is 0-6, you should have a pretty damn low bar. That said, Vince has 63% completions, 3 TD to 2 INT, only been sacked once. Sure only 150 yards per game in the air, but without Vince they lost to Jacksonville by 20. With Vince, they beat them by 17. Putting up fantasy numbers is not the QB's job, winning games is.

It also fails to take into account all the other elements of the team that have obviously turned around. Look at the defensive effort before the bye and after the bye. There's way more going on than just Vince Young.

Our Breesus, which art in N'Orleans,
hallowed be thy name;
thy dragon come;
thy offense be done,
in run as it is in pass.
Give us this day our daily win.
And forgive us our penalties,
as we forgive them that commit penalties against us.
And lead us not into turnovers;
but deliver us from losses.
[For thine is the kingdom,
the power, and the glory,

In spite of the Cowboys once again hovering at the bottom of the power rankings for teams with the same record, I have this to say:

Cowboys too high.

You put up 14 points in 8 quarters... I don't care if you win one or even both games. You suck.

Normally I'd feel hopeful about them doing something to fix it, but the damn Thanksgiving Day game is coming up. 4 Days to get their shiat together.

At least it is just the Raiders.

Oakland is the ideal team to face on 4 days rest out of the remaining games, I think.

I can't really complain THAT much about Oakland not moving up. They're about right where they should be.

However, should they pull off another couple of upsets and Gradkowski show some semblance of stability at QB, they should pop above the 20 mark anyway...

Well, if they wanted a chance to see if Gradowski can complete a checkdown, this would be the week.

The Cowboys will let you complete as many 5 yard passes over the middle as you want, and the screen pass is a guaranteed 7 yards.

My hope for the Cowboys this week is that I can't imagine their offensive production getting any lower. There isn't really anywhere to go but up.

Treygreen13: My hope for the Cowboys this week is that I can't imagine their offensive production getting any lower. There isn't really anywhere to go but up.

My theory before, was that Oakland's defense wouldn't play to full capacity as long as Jamarcus was still playing QB.

The whole team seemed like they found a new spark of life since that dumbass got benched. What was going to be a blowout game on week 3, now looks like much less of a sure thing for the Cowboys.

As long as Oak can contain the run game a bit, I'm hoping Oakland at least looks competitive. Oh and hoping that Lechler hits the Omicron Omega Screen.

With all the weird upsets and turnarounds this season, I got curious as to what everyone's worst loss has been (as far as power rankings are concerned). Since I have nothing better to do at the moment, I thought I'd post the results:

(Note: this list only goes off the rankings from this week; I didn't bother going back to check everyone's rank at every point during the season, because A.) I'm lazy, and B.) the rankings are basically useless anyway, and no one really gives a shiat.)

Current Rank --- Worst Loss by Rank

01. Saints ------- N/A
02. Colts -------- N/A
03. Vikings ------ 09. Steelers
04. Patriots ----- 22. Jets
05. Cardinals ---- 21. Panthers

10. Eagles ------- 28. Raiders
11. Giants ------- 10. Eagles
12. Packers ------ 30. Buccaneers
13. Broncos ------ 24. Redskins
14. Jaguars ------ 25. Seahawks
15. Ravens ------- 07. Bengals
16. Falcons ------ 21. Panthers
17. Dolphins ----- 16. Falcons
18. Texans ------- 22. Jets
19. Titans ------- 22. Jets
20. 49ers -------- 19. Titans

32. Browns ------- 29. Lions

I find it funny that half the teams in the NFL have lost to one of the nine epically shiatty teams at the bottom of the list. It almost makes me feel a little better about the Packers losing to the Bucs (not really, though).

Vince is never going to have great QB numbers. He's just a winner. 22-11 as a starter. That's pretty damn good.

You know when I knew the Titans were going to beat the Texans last night? When the ESPN hacks were making their pregame predictions. Matt Millen confidently stated that the Texans were a lock to win. Mike Ditka said it would be the Titans. When it comes to football, you always go a. with Ditka and b. against Millen.

InferiousX: Oh and gotta still love the number one spot:

(1) Saints last two weeks opponents:
(31) Rams
(30) Bucs

(2) Colts last two weeks opponents:
(4) Patriots
(15) Ravens

And Saints rank higher....whatever, ESPN.....whatever.

Yeah, and the Colts sat on #1 for weeks while they struggled to beat middling teams while the Saints embarassed everyone they faced. It happens.

Who do you think the Colts struggled to beat, exactly? I mean, the Rams struggled to beat the freaking Rams.

BKITU: Treygreen13: At least it is just the Raiders.

Who just beat the Bengals.

AFC West SURGING!

/Bunk-os notwithstanding.

This is why I hate AFC West football.
Every year either the Chargers or Broncos bust out of the gate with some lucky wins, then blow it late.
The AFC West champ (9-7 or 8-8) is playoff fodder.
The other two just play spoiler for playoff bound teams.

The Chargers 14-2 season was the only legit thing to come out of the AFC West for 10 years, and look how that went down.

After last year's 8-8 Chargers 'run' I'm on board with only winning teams making the playoffs. If a division winner is 8-8 add a third wild card.
