Being gay isn't the issue...being stupid and displaying poor taste is. This jerk is clueless.

Is it poor taste to kiss someone on stage during a performance? Are kisses on the movie screen or theater stage similarly in poor taste?

I thought the kiss was kind of cute.

I didn't see the simulated fellatio. That might be slightly in poor taste for the intended demographic, however, I still see no problem with it being aired completely unedited. I have not been known to "think of the children" when it comes to TV however.

Which part was that? Was it the act of kissing on stage, which has been done for decades without any whining? Or is the fact that it was 2 guys what makes it "being stupid . . .". Because if THAT'S the case, then despite what some homophobes may tell themselves to justify their outrage (OUTRAGE) at such a stupid issue, being gay is most certainly the issue.

I don't think he meant the kiss was poor taste.

Imagine this... A man is just innocently sitting there watching the show and then BAM! all of a sudden they catch gay from what they're watching.

Do you have any idea how disruptive that is? Their whole world changed. Suddenly they realize they have poor taste in the beer they're drinking, the dingy undecorated room they're in, the dirty t-shirt they're wearing.

It's okay bearsfolks, there's plenty of places to get help. Start by tuning into Bravo and shortening your nick to Bear.

I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt and assumes he means the simulated fellatio. While I don't think that is in poor taste, I understand if people think simulated sex acts are over the line.

I've known very few gay people with good taste in beer.

I didn't see that, only the kiss clip bc it made the news. Yeah, simulated fellatio is in poor taste. But most of the hubbub yesterday was based on the two guys kissing.

I had to read the article to realize it happened. Apparently ABC quickly cut to an audience shot.

I, however, don't think taste matters as much as most people might. The world is real, no matter how much we want our kids to have a fabricated view of it. I saw tasteless things on TV as a kid and grew up just fine.

Of course. But the difference here is that if the kiss is the issue, given the number of onscreen kisses on network TV in prime-time, then that means the real problem people have is that it was two men (not the act of kissing itself).

If the simulated bj is the issue, then the act being aired on TV is the issue.

I don't care about either, but only one is bigotry.

'Cause I didn't, I thought it was tasteless and that it was deliberately constructed to be insipidly indulgent "edgy" but in reality was just embarassing to me, a gay man.

I didn't enjoy the performance because, frankly, I don't find the kid talented. But embarrassing to gay people, well, hell I don't know. I don't get embarrassed when straight people show affection, though I do point and laugh when people are all over each other at like a bar or something.

Not to split hairs, but I think you're talking about fame. Celebrity is a whole different animal. Example: Willie Nelson is famous. Anna Nicole Smith was a celebrity.

Fair enough. But there is overlap. I might go so far as to argue that while not everyone who is famous is a celebrity, all celebrities are famous. I have to give that more thought.

What everyone should know is that recent reports indicated his record label was trying to play down his homosexuality. This, I believe, was his way of giving the finger to his label and cementing his sexual preference into the minds of the viewers. I applaud his smite and sincerely hope he can sell more records as a result. I've never heard his music and doubt I ever will, but I support anyone's unabashed attempts to "fight the power".

Within 72 hours, 19 Entertainment/The American Idol Handlers will drop the hammer down, he's going to apologize down the line, and he'll be forced back in the closet to the point in which he will outskank Jon Gossalyn in bars, fark Lindsey Lohan, and claim Octomom's kids as his biological offspring to prove he's straighter than Tom Cruise.

Uh, boys kissing their male guitarists isn't shocking or new. They've been doing it since the 70's at least. Attention whores, they wear glitter.

If he was doing this for the same reason Britney/Madonna/etc did it, then fine. Being an attention whore at award shows is par for the course. No issues here.

If he was doing it to make some kind of political statement then he's a douchebag.
