Did you even watch the Lions last year?

Let me put it this way:

The 1976 Bucs lost every game by an average of 20.9 points/game. (Lions: 15.6)
They were shut out 5 times. (Lions: 0)
They had less than 15 yards passing in a game 3 times. (Lions: 0)
They had 3 or more turnovers in a game 7 times. (Lions: 5)

And their head coach gave the best line EVER about his team:

McKay often came up with humorous one-liners during press conferences. One of the best-known quips came when he was asked, "What do you think about your team's execution?" McKay responded, "I'm all for it!"

/Seriously- when you hire a Offensive/Defensive Coordinator in the offseason, and can one before the season and one almost 3/4 of the way through the season... you have no clue what you are doing. Please get rid of Domenik/Morris

The Bucs are just absolutely terrible this year. I mean, they finished last season on 4 bad notes in a row, but I didn't think that they would drop off a cliff like this. Seriously man, WTF? That defense was unbelievable from 1999-2005. They should have won more than one Superbowl, frankly.

If I wasn't so lazy I'd post their defensive roster from that team and this team as comparison..sure they have a few holdovers...but they're 5-6 football years older now.

You just need to put up a picture of Ronde Barber. He is pretty much indicative of the state of the Bucs defense.

Decent, but slowly crossing the line between "experienced" and "old".

Fine. I was up by 11 points last night going into the MNF game, and my opponent had Chris Johnson. That motherfarker got 29 carries. 29! I had to watch my point lead dwindle as he got the ball on nearly every play.

Does that work for you?

Oh, I know. They've gotten older and quite a few of them (Sapp, Lynch, Brooks, Rice, etc.) are through. That said, they didn't really invest in defense thorugh the draft. It's like having a beautiful classic car, and instead of performing maintenance to keep it running, you just sit it out in the sun and watch it rust.

Ashley Schaeffer BMW: One of the best-known quips came when he was asked, "What do you think about your team's execution?" McKay responded, "I'm all for it!"

I am more fond of the "We didn't tackle very well, but we made up for it by not blocking." and, "4 or 5 plane crashes and we're in the playoffs."

Morris is a joke. My understanding is that he was the one making the defensive play calls, and more importantly, the defensive halftime adjustments that seem to have carried over to this year, in the last 4 games after Kiffin announced taking the D-coordinator job at TN.

No Kidding after ignoring "D" they go out and draft Gaines Adams. I knew they were looking to get the next Julius Peppers, but it wreaked of despiration after ignoring defense for so long. I am happy that we got a second rounder from the Bears for him.

Talib looks pretty good on the field. Atleast he won't be a bust. Who cares about off the field issues? He can afford a lawyer.

Skins have the #4 defense so it's hard to say the defensvie coordinator sucks.

I dont get what drastic change it will make with Morris calling the shots on Defense now. He's way too young as a coach and the Bucs owners were expecting the next Tomlin from him. With a shiatty team thats not going to happen anytime soon.

A few weeks ago Morris said they have no 'big' intimidating guys on defense thus not being to defend well. Morris is setting up to be the next Mangina.

This isn't an issue of D talent. Adams is a bust, and they need some help on the D line, but not overall talent. It is an issue of trying to make D players drafted for one scheme play in one that they are not well equipped to play. Like having a DT play a two gap scheme when he has only ever had success in a one gap. Or putting corners out on islands that are used to having over the top help and having linebacker support for passses over the middle suddenly having neither of those crutches makes for failure. Add that to linebackers and safeties that are also not used to the scheme adds to that failure. It is a problem of forcing a task on a player not molded for the task.

If Morris had any sense, he'd revert back to the Tampa-2 scheme in which most of the players have the most experience and throw in more blitz packages to give a chance at putting more pressure on the QB. Not only is the burden of performance of this team squarely on him, this also puts a greater magnifying glass on him even for a D-Coordinating position in the future. Bad career choice if you ask me.

Maybe you can suck it, Subby.

The Bucs have NEVER been able to stop the run. I don't know why this is just now getting addressed, rather than in any of the previous 35 off-seasons they have had. Tampa plays better in a Tampa 2 anyways. The personnel they've drafted over the years were to fit that system, they essentially have the same guys there now. I don't get why they switched systems at the start of the year, but its pretty motherfarking obvious it doesn't work.
