K, here's a little background: Vito Rizzuto (new window) went to prison in the U.S. recently, then Salvatore Montagno (new window) got deported from New York back to Montreal. I wonder what could possibly be happening up there.

There's organised crime everywhere, and given that Montréal is a busy port city with powerful blue-collar union representation, it shouldn't come as a surprise.

Concerning the string of firebombings that have been occurring lately, the common consensus is that it's due to a relatively low level drug war that has, unfortunately, escalated - and as the coffee shops act as money laundering fronts, they're being targeted by the respective belligerents in the conflict.
