Samia Chicken sounds delicious.

Wait, I *KNOW* Obama's not a citizen of the Phillipines. How can he run against Samia Chicken?

Hey, as long as they're not lopping the heads off of their opponent's wives and 30 to 40 of their friends, I'm cool with that.

Emposter: Samia Chicken sounds delicious.

Sounds like a lock unless Peanut Butter Chicken gets in the race.

Tasty.

The Ultimate Messiah? Finally! I'm getting so sick of these crappy half-arsed Messiahs getting outclassed year after year by the new model.

Why can't our politics be this crazy? Oh. Right. Never mind.

Read this. It's a bit old but it explains why they have weird names over there.

What? No Coup d'état. Still wish Clark AB and Subic Bay were open there.

Mindanao.

He sounds like a luchador. So I figure if Jessie Ventura can be governor, why can't this person hold public office.

/I'm voting for him

dprathbun: Why can't our politics be this crazy? Oh. Right. Never mind.

There are times when I wonder if the third world doesn't really understand anything about the first, and then there are times when I'm pretty sure the US, Canada and UK don't actually have that monopoly on irony.

That's right. The "Northern Ireland" of the PI. Beautiful island - was there a few months ago. It's really too bad about the violence there. If you are white and want to visit - I recommend only visiting Davao, which is far more developed, pretty much safe, and doesn't have any of the sectarian violence of the region.

So there is a country where a candidate could actually be named "Turd Sandwich" or "Giant Douche". Nice!

/I wouldn't vote for Samia Chicken
//Bubor Manado would definitely get my vote:

Daniel Magtira, 49, came to the commission blowing a party horn and handing out T-shirts with "Vote Daniel Magtira" printed on them.

His main reason for running is to push for the Philippines to switch from its standard 220 volts on electricity sockets to 110 volts.

"We will advance if we are like America with 110 volts. And if a person gets electrocuted, it won't be as bad," Magtira explained.

Wait...what?

I do wish our politics were like that for more people. I am frequently greatly amused by our politics and our government but not to the extent as I would be with names like those.

Yes, I wish our candidates had such fun names, but I wouldn't want their politics. Supporters of one candidate murdered 46 supporters of another candidate, including 23 journalists, a pregnant woman and the candidate's wife and two sisters, and dumped them in a mass grave. The worst we get is name-calling and veiled threats.

That would suck but it would add to the amusement factor. Sadly, it looks like there may be more if I was reading properly. One region has had like 120k deaths since the 1970's due to Islamic insurgencies and that appears to be a factor. I really haven't paid a whole lot of attention to their politics much since the Imelda Marcos stuff and even then it was mostly curiosity or wondering if I were ever going to end up going there while I was enlisted. I didn't have to go. It looks like that's a good thing.

Thanks for telling me that - it inspired me to look. I'll keep reading.

FTFY. Obligatory, "Ha! If you even knew just how many ultrasecret nightmares the government was covering up, you would never sleep again. Just curl up on your bed, weeping and waiting for the inevitable hellish apocalypse."

/They should've made that show. Damn them. Oh well, at least they made Leverage. And Wil's guest appearance rocked.
