It's hard to watch my mother, who will be 70 in January, struggle with the crazy. There are times I respond to her whackadoodle statements with a good, "WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?!"

Who the fark wants some bean-pole broad whose obsessive-complusive about her looks, and needs constant reinforcement that she's not fat, and looks good. You'll have a far better time with a woman whose got a couple extra pounds, knows it, and knows that she looks damn sexy.

There will come a day when you'll want more than a one night stand, in order to avoid dying alone. When that day comes, and you spend the rest of your life with that woman, do you really want to get stuck with some high-maintenance woman who is gonna be clingy and need attention and reassurance the rest of her life? Or will it be the confident woman who can take care of herself just fine?

I don't know how you (or your daughters) are defining crazy, but now that I've hit 50, I just don't give a damn about half the stuff I used to think was important. This includes making people peripheral to my life happy. I tell people "no" lots more often, I indeed tell them to go to hell more often. If only one person can be happy in a given situation, I mostly make sure it's me. So put me in the crazy column.

So...what if a woman is genetically programmed to get fat around the middle as she gets older, but she works out and watches what she eats and therefore avoids getting fat? Is she still at increased risk for wharrgarbl later in life? Or is it the actual fat that does it?
